what do you think of this idea basil

okay so i desperately need repetitive practice in order to improve, so i was thinking, what if i drew every single maplestory character in every possible outfit? ! ?
starting from noob clothes and slowly transitioning into higher level equips, characters will become more complicated to draw, and i will force myself to render them in my best ability. maybe i won't do every single character that ever existed, but maybe take a couple from each class and level, etc. i will probably draw npcs as well.
okay maybe i'm psycho. but my professional art idols are what they are because their job forced them to draw hundreds of characters. i feel like i can get better if i just keep drawing like a machine.

i choose maplestory which is a lame game, but i really like interpreting the tiny outfits with freedom. i don't like producing fan art copies of anime or other games.

the only problem is i could make money out of this through commissions, but then i'm afraid it would lack structure and not many people will be willing to pay anyway...
what if i asked nexon for sponsorship? lol. would they actually care?
that is a good idea. it's a good idea to draw npcs as well..like those burly mountain men in el nath or grendel-like people ^ ^
Well... yeah... that's what I was getting at. But don't limit yourself to Maple stuff.

OH sorry. rl = real life, in art communities a rl commission = client pays for a commission with real currency [not internet gold/mesos..etc.]

Non-contracted just means it's an informal commission kind of deal. If you illustrate something for a company/business they normally require contract work so they can purchase rights to the art you produce for them. Sometimes they don't let you release the final product to the public, other times they let you post it in your portfolio, depends on the contract.

you have to sometimes
and plus, i'm fine with drawing maplestory. it's just that i wish i could make money somehow so then people around me will know i'm sacrificing time for a good reason
I don't think nexon is directly in charge of maplestory art. It seems like most of the concept/commercial art is done in korea. Additionally, they tend to use their signature chibi people.

Every person is different, if you think you'll improve that way I don't see any problem with that haha. It's not something I'd personally try just because I like to expand and dabble in environmental art/ animal art/ design..etc. and this seems a bit restricting, buttt I've never taken well to structured things anyway haha.
i will try and throw in environmental themes too. i can't think of any other way that will make me keep drawing other than maplestory. simply just drawing what is in front of me just doesn't cut it
i'm probably going to make a tumblr for this too, and see how far i can get. but i doubt i can get very far since i have school as well
