Depends, Estaffs are harder to get your hands on. They're both just as easy to level up.
I think my mech is more fun, but battle mages are great at pvp.
Fun imo: Mech
Button mashin': Battle mage
Speed: tie, til mechs get no cool down on siege.
Go with BaM. Mech sucks terribly.
I play them both.
And Mech was more fun IMO.
