Has anything like this happened to you?
Well, at the end of the day everyone was getting ready to go home from school. A random asian kid was walking down the halls, and some of the guys in my class started talking to him. We're a couple years older than this guy so the guys automatically thought they were cooler than him. They started discussing maplestory and saying "I heard you play maplestory","Do you play maplestory? That games sooo fun" and all that fun jazz,
They all hate maplestory. I guess they were trying to embarrass him or something?
So the random kid is all "Oh, I quit. It's wayy too hard to level."
The entire time me and my best friend are going hysterical, trying to avoid the fact that we play.
So the guys continue to make fun of him.. and discuss their experiences with the game. (They obviously do not know what they are talking about.. I'm sure they got it mixed up with runescape.)
In the end, the kid walked away with a bruised ego and I walked away with the fear of anyone knowing of past times.
So, in your school does this happen? Is it "bad" to play maplestory there? xD

Basically, someone was being made fun of for playing maplestory and I asked if stuff like that ever happens at your school. Yay. c:

my school its like 1/100 then 89/100 are runescape and the rest are WoW
I'm pretty sure a little less than half of my school plays.
No offence but im pretty sure there are those rly fob asians that play at my school. I have to say, they should rly get a life.
Never seen them socialize with anyone but themselves, and as result nobody want to talk to them. In fact even though i play maple, i dont wanna talk to them.
Its ppl like them tht put a bad reputation to those who play the game, its like as if you play the game, you're seen as a person with no life.
I dont talk about the MS 24/7 or take it so serious/get offended when ppl say MS is gay or stupid. I know they are just expressin their opinion or just jokin wit me.
None of my friend judge me when i told them i play maple. We are and were cool, and they rnt gonna just stop bein cool wit me just cuz i play maple.
If more ppl at school can be cool about sayin they play maple and not talk about it 24/7, i think playin maple would have a better reputation.

In my school, I only met one kid who played maple (besides my brother).
I over-heard him trying to convince his friends to play, and they weren't interested.
I don't tell people I play, unless they ask me. And I've never been made fun of for it.
Anybody who passes by my computer terminal while I'm signed in will know. My desktop background is MS...
And everyone in my school is asian, but only a few play maple...
A ton of my college friends play LOL
My friends still ask me, "Do you still play MapleStory?"
And they do it in that disapproving way.
But I'm like yeah -glare- and they give it up.
One day I'll be lvl 200 and I'll show them

Pretty much everybody plays Maple in my school lol.
I am hella embarrassed on admitting that I play. But I admit it.

Back when I was in school I played and let everyone know I played, I even got 5 other people to play and we'd play in the science lab during our free periods. Currently I still play (obviously) and 3/5 of the people I got to play still do, I've gotten most of my gamer friends to play and a few of my buddies in the Military to play . My brother is in the Navy and he and his wife has been playing for almost as long as me (late 05) and still do. I've never gotten hassled for playing it and even if I did I'd still proudly state that I'm a Mapler. Currently trying to get my gf to play, wish me luck ^_^.
No one outside of my house knows I play so this could never happen to me. It was awful what those guys did to that kid. What he does in his free time for entertainment is his business. You were just as wrong as those bullies for laughing at the situation. You should feel bad.
i wish i could beat up all of those kids, but alas, i am nothing more than a guy behind a computer screen to them =.=
and no one but my friends in school know what maplestory is (they hate it), but i don't care, i talk about it all the time <3

I play with my friends so that doesn't really matter. But for the others, they're like "fk maple, go buy yourself a PS3 and play some COD Black Ops"
I got most of my friends playing / They played in the past.
Even some of the "I'm so cool" people play. I found it surprising when they came up to me asking for tips.

Oh im sorry "dumb ppl" so yes this type of stuff would happen but everyone is so "cool" that they dont talk about it
If i ask someone on their opinion on MS, they say its for ppl with no life...

Nah, but I do often get called crazy cuz I spent 3k+ on Maple and make it apparent as hell , i.e., throwing used NX cards as frisbies in the courtyard.
Too many of my friends played Maple so they either:
1. went through the experience and understand the addiction
2. know me well enough that they don't care
As for strangers, I couldn't care less, I generally stay away from immature kids anyways.

Before, a lot of my friends knew i played. But then i took a long break but Ii think they think that I actually quit. Now, only one of my friends know i play which is who i play with. I don't really care if people at my school play. If they do, then cool beans.
Everyone knows I play, I'm still acknowledged and respected anyways.

I could never get my friends to keep playing with me =( i met my bf on maple though believe it or not lol. We've been dating irl over a year now ^^
Me and only my close friends know i play and some of them also do.
But OT: Yeah it happened xD
So i was in my free period and went to the maple website during school and 2 sophmores saw me on it. I just ignored them and then i heard them talk about maple when i walked passed them. I was like "oh they play maple cool" in my head. So the next day me and my friends were talkin about Big Bang and crap when they passed us and yelled MAPLESTORY. Then everytime they saw my friends they yelled MAPLESTORY. Really Really annoying. So my friends and i just ignored them and they eventually stopped. Fish FTW
none of my regular friends know i play but a few of my "gamer" friends know i play
