This is the main reason why I quit Maplestory
The lag. I can play games such as league of legends, world of warcraft, dota, portal, and other games perfectly without any lag. However for some odd reason, Maplestory lags like crazy and at most times, I can't even play 5 minutes without it closing down unexpectedly. This has been happening for over a year and a half. And for the past week, the game is unplayable.
Here is what happens. I launch the game using game launcher. Enter username and password, click world, and click channel. The channel I click on gets stuck loading so I quit and enter my username and password again. This time, I can get inside a channel. Then that stupid you have not changed your pin thing comes up and I manage to get in the game. 10 seconds later, maple crashes for no reason. In the rare times I do get on, it lags like crazy even in the lowest graphical settings. And I end up getting d/ced anyways. I have sent numerous tickets to Nexon over the months to fix the lag issue, but they don't seem to acknowledge it. I really wanna try out the new Zero class, but I can't. Has this been happening to anyone else, or am I the only one?

Town lags were mainly in part to the presence of event npcs like cassandra, gaga, maple admin, cody, etc. Town lags are mostly gone except for a few places like showa town where the npcs are still there or in extremely small maps. They removed these npcs from most towns to the event hall which is why THAT lags like crazy.

if its the px like everyone's fault, can you identify whether your specs match the recommended specs listed by nexon?
I have the same problem. My old laptop can handle MS better than my new one, but my new one can handle 3D games way better than my old one. It's just bad coding on Nexon's part.

they should have fixed all town lag with event hall. If you still lag in towns your computer must be literal crap. mine is a 2002 windows vista and i dont lag in towns...anymore

Yep, no lag whatsoever... Unless i'm downloading a lot of stuff at the same time... but i guess that's normal...
Also, my computer has more ram now and i don't lag even bossing with 20 ppl.
So in my case it was my internet provider's fault.

It is amazing how ignorant people on this site can be, does it not strike you as odd that this game runs like complete ass while other games that use far more resources do not? Why is it I can play Dota 2, WoW, BF4, and just about any game on steam on max settings with 50+ frames and sub 50 latency on my 7970, while this game run's like a horse with one leg. It's not his computer's fault, it's nexon's fault this game is unoptimized as all hell and you know it.

Is the event hall known for lags? My main is in the event hall and I crash every time I logg on

I see... i was just saying that because i had an issue one time...
I could only play in channels 3 and 19, any channel different from this would lag me to the point i can't even go through a portal. So i decided to give a phonecall to my internet provider and they fixed it within an hour.

OT: it's ur p/c. Unless I'm in the event hall or only 1 minute has passed since I logged in, it almost doesn't lag and if it does, it is minor like 2 milisecond lag.
Its not Nexon's fault, if it was everyone would experience this issue, not just you. They are smart in ignoring your ticket because they cannot do a thing to help you

Also, where do you live? Because i heard europe has ip ban. And probably other places might have trouble too, since nexon servers are located in the United States.
