Nexons possible inspiration for Phantom
I think they possibly got ths idea from X-men. Phantom uses cards and is a thief, just like Gambit, and he also fights using a cane (not a bo staff but they're both walking sticks). He also steals other's abilities, like Rogue from X-men. Lastly the two of them had on and off romantic moments in the series so why not mix them together. What are your thoughts on this?

prolly yeah
I think nexon got the idea of assassins from ninjas
To me, Phantom is more like Setzer Gabbiani from Final Fantasy 6, a thief, gambler, adventurer, owns an airship, his love is dead, and his main weapons are cards.
It cant be from the X-Men, because Nexon Korea doesnt know about the X-Men, and they made phantom
Just cause they're from Korea doesn't mean they're not aware of American things.
Ive only seen the first episode of Detective Conan or "Cased Closed" how ive first seen it. So i wouldnt know a thing about Phantom Thief Kid.
-DNA angel
-X men's Gambit
-the Cardcaptor Sakura Thief Prince

I can definitely say South Korea knows X-Men. There were official posters of X-Men around Seoul last time I was there.
OT: I never actually thought it was from X-Men. I always thought they took it from Kaito Kid the Phantom Thief from Detective Conan the anime. Nexon does in fact pull ideas from Japanese pop culture - Luscious Locks from Lightning in FFXIII, Moonlight Fairy Hair from Sailor Moon, the blue bow tie suit in cash shop mimicing Conan's outfit, etc.
You're wrong, they got the idea from Yu-Gi-Oh
