This is why you READ the event descriptions put on Nexon's main site. To make this EVEN MORE convenient for you, they started putting them on basil. Try reading before complaining?
Last year they had one NPC who randomly assigned you to a team, so at least it didn't give the wrongful impression that you could join one team or the other by choosing the NPC to talk to.
They didn't tell you ahead of time it would be that way, so a lot of people found themselves disappointed (and as I recall you were stuck with the assignment the entire event), but having two NPCs now is just adding to the confusion.
Nexon needs to stop letting the pizza delivery guy design the game.

You never had the choice of picking your team. It changes everyday at midnight.
teams are reset everyday... It also says that "I will choose teams for you"....
