oh man, if you wanna cry, watch Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. It may not seem sad at first or have a "sad drama" vibe, but it's seriously underrated and it made me cry probably more than ano hana (which was my top crying my eyes out anime). I might seem like I'm exaggerating, but that's how it was for me. What really makes it sad is how realistic is portrays human emotion. Also, it's only 11 or 12 eps long, but it goes by fast.
You might like Angel Beats.
I don't know; I feel like there are a few different kinds of tear jerkers out there. There's stuff like Angel Beats, which tries really hard to get a reaction by the end of the series, and for a lot of people who approached Angel Beats fairly new to the genre, it accomplished that goal. EDIT: Actually, upon re-watching the Angel Beats ending, it still kind of gives me chills. So, yeah. Definitely would recommend. But there's also a different kind of "holy crap this makes me feel sad" genre, like Welcome to the NHK, or Kaiji, that sneaks in silently and gets the viewer right where it hurts.
A lot of shows have their moments. I cried when Ed left in Cowboy Bebop. To this day, the music used in that clip still makes me feel a lump in my throat. I cried when Misaki begged Sato not to jump. And I almost lost it when Misaki, shared her views on God. That's the kind of thing that really just creeps in and hits you when you least expect it, to the extent that listening to the series' soundtrack makes me depressed, but in a good way. Watching the protag from Angel Beats claw at the air in the final episode (you'll know what I mean) may evoke emotion from some people, but it's different from the kind of sad experienced in these other shows. So -- I don't know. I guess it just depends on where you are in life and what you're experiencing when you watch the stuff. B-But enough rambling. Give Angel Beats a shot, if you haven't yet. If you've already seen that, maybe try Welcome to the NHK.
@David0696: LOL

That movie hit me so hard. I lost it when (-how do I not spoil this?-) there was a grave of fireflies. The atmosphere of that whole scene is depressing. If you like the director's work, I recommend The Tale of Princess Kaguya.
SAO made me cry
It made me cry because of how bad it was after around episode 15.

My friend told me to watch it. It is one of the best anime out there. The main character makes me think of myself during high school.
Anohana by far lol
So much win in this thread. Watch Tasogare Otome X Amnesia
no clannad types
only gurren lagann, kill la kill
outlandish plot, tons of screaming, obscure pacing, yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees
Try watching Myself, Yourself. It's sort of similar to Clannad. I'm not sure if it made me ball my eyeballs or if it really is close to Clannad, my memory is sort of hazy on both the plots There are definitely sad parts and I loved the ending.
Toradora
True Tears
Ef- A Tale of Memories/Melodies
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien
Shuffle!
School Days is a pretty funny anime, especially the ending,
SAO made me cry
Watch the other KEY adaptions like Angel Beats, Kanon, and Air. And then play the visual novels.
I also watched kanon and angel beats. I liked angel beats, but I didn't really like the old style from kanon since it's from long time. I personally do not like visual novel. Any other suggestions?
Anohana made me cry pretty badly.
