First tattoo help
Hey guys. So I turned 18 yesterday and got my first tattoo. I've had it for about 6-8hours and I just have a few questions. Will I be able to shower and get it wet today ? Also what about the sun? I planned on spending a day by the pool Friday and don't know what to do about it. Also any tips on taking care of it and healing ?
Thanks in advance

Keep it away from the water actually hitting the spot where your tattoo is if you're going to shower and also sunlight plays a big part in the healing process and how fast your tattoo fades as well. Keep it away from sunlight if possible since you shouldn't be wearing sunblock on it just yet.

Considering the atrocity that is your spelling you probably aren't all that much older.
You can shower, just try to keep that area away form the water as much as possible. Getting it a little wet is fine, since you're supposed to wash it with unscented antibacterial soap every few hours anyway. Use an ointment for the first few days to keep it moist (I used A+D), but don't use too much or else your skin will get bumps. Do NOT use Vaseline. On the third or fourth day switch to unscented lotion with Vitamin E (I used Lubriderm Daily Moisture). Your skin might start to scab by then (mine didn't). It will also be itchy, so try to pat it instead of scratching it. All the other things that everyone else seems about right. The two products mentioned are the most commonly used ones after tattoo aftercare.
Yes you can shower. Only wash it with antibacterial unscented soap while it's healing. After shower make sure you put whatever you're using on it. Most people use A+D ointment. I use A+D the first two days, and then use Lubriderm Daily Moisture unscented lotion the rest of the healing process. Make sure to stay out of the sun as much as you can while it is healing, or rather keep it covered. Once healed as long as you put a generous amount of sunblock on to prevent fading you will be good. I personally wouldn't suggest going to the pool. IMO it's a bad idea. Especially since it's an "open wound", and it could possibly get infected.
showers are fine. do not submerge it in water. use vitamin E cream on it after showering, but do not over saturate. keep them out of sunlight until it is fully healed, then when it has healed, use sunscreen of 30 spf or higher to prevent fading. expect the tattoo to crust after a couple days, that is normal.. dont pick at it. you can sleep on it if you like, that wont affect it, and dont let anyone touch it until it has healed.
Source: I'm covered in tattoos, my friend has been tattooing for 13 years, my other for 15, they run a popular tattoo shop.
Don't get it too wet as it can irritate the skin if the water is too hot and affect healing time, only wash it lightly if it is dirty/gets dirty. The sun can affect the tattoo as it can make your skin dry but I doubt you'll be exposed long enough unless you're at the beach/in direct sunlight for a long period and chlorine can also affect the tattoo as it is highly concentrated and can cause a reaction, so stay away from that. Some ways to make it heal faster is to not sleep on it, stay away from already stated things and put bepanthen cream on it. Wait until it peels alot, then wash but do not scrub it. Hope I could help.

For all of you guys thinking about getting a tattoo;
Set your tattoo as your background for your desktop for a few months.
You had to ask this to the tattoo artist, also, google and you will find the information.
Please take care of it.
How does it look? Can we see a picture?
I love tattoo's !
I'll get mine when I turn 18 next year
Why didn't you ask the tattoo artist lol?
