Relax, take a deep breath, and stop the UserID hysteria To combat the hysteria about leaked user IDs, why don't we all take a deep breath and think about this rationally... Facts: 1) Nexon goofed- people may know some players ID. 2) That is absurd and inexcusable mistake, and should result in us being able to change our IDs to make us feel warm and fuzzy again. However... consider these even more important facts: 3) Most systems (yahoo, gmail, any unix/Linux system with a root account) have publicly known IDs 4) An ID is next to worthless with a good password and PIC 5) A 10 digit, mixed-case with special characters password will take roughly 900+ years for a desktop PC to hack. 6) An IBM supercomputer, testing 72 BILLION passwords a

Working full time for MapleStory 4000 crystals, that'll make your suit permanent for you. 7 days to do it in, 7 crystals a pop, that's a lovely 82 runs per days. 5-6 minutes per run, we're talking a good 7+ hours a day, every day. (Don't miss one!) That's pretty much a full-time job (one requiring working on the weekend, nonetheless). I tip my hat to Nexon, only they have the ingenuity, creativeness, and raw courage to turn a simple game event into a full-time job, just as school is starting. Most companies might say something like "Hey, it's back-to-school season, let's do something fun for all our players, let them enjoy a little free time after school and homework". But no, only Nexon has the guts to say "To hell with that

Nexon possibly going public- WSJ article Sorry if I'm a bit late, but has anyone read the recent Wall Street Journal front (business) page article about Nexon? (Last Thursday- I finally got around to reading it, it was sitting on my kitchen table all this time!) [t]watch.com/story/nexon-hires-bankers-for-financing-or-ipo-2011-04-13 (sorry, it doesn't like that word market watch all together- remove the brackets) Some interesting facts- 1) They are currently talking with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley about either going public in an IPO, or raising a huge new sum in private investments 2) Revenue up 56% in 2009 to $648 million 3) Revenue almost 1 Billion in 2010 4) 95 Million maplestory players 5) Only 7 Million in the US 6) Nexon is based

Should I even bother maxing Corkscrew Blow? I got my TB up to level 65, and now I'm debating whether to leave CSB at 11 and max Booster (which I'll need to max anyways using 3rd job points if I don't do it now). Or, I can stick with the guide (yes, I already read it), and max CSB and leave Booster at 11. Does maxing CSB provide me with any benefits whatsoever? In my first 65 levels of training, I've never once bothered to 'charge' it all the way- I'm just killing enemies with SSK and energy blast. CSB doesn't hit any more mosters than 3, no matter how high level it goes. Does the range increase or something? Will I eventually use it at higher levels? Is having it at 20 a pre-req for another skill or some interesting tactic I'll use later to

Can you profit by scrolling and selling end game gear? So I have enough pinks and white to scroll a few weapons up to +9 status using all pink 50% scrolls. For many people, this could be a viable end game weapon (not perfect, but certainly not too shabby). Is that a profitable means for making money? Would I realistically be able to sell, say, a 3-lined, 144 attack PSB for more than the 18 pinks, 18 whites it would cost me to make (on average)? Or do people really only make halfway decent items like that for themselves to use? When you get that expensive, do people pretty much only want unique 30% bossing weaps, which would cost a fortune to cube. My thoughts are that if it could be sold for more scrolls than it took to make, I could rinse

Scania players guinea pigs in prep for an Ipo If I owned a virtual-goods company such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Nexon, Zwinga, etc... and was looking to go public to cash in on my ownership stake, I would want to do 2 things: 1) Inflate the number of active users 2) Stress-test my servers to assure stakeholders that we are prepared to scale up after they invest X millions/billions. I'd run as many campaigns as possible to verify the number of active users (useful in determining a value of my company), as well as prove we have a solid technical foundation that can meet and exceed the demands of the robust (and unreasonable) growth we're projecting in our investor pitches. I'd host some sort of series of events that caused as many users as possi

Is a thorns mule a useful thing? So I've gotten pretty decent at getting characters to around 120, give or take a few levels. I now have a 120DrK HB mule, my 148 HS/Genesis-leave-me-alone-don't-KS-me-please mule, and a 110 Speed Infusion Mule in addition to my main Sair. I was thinking that I need to make some sort of SI mule. Unfortunately, I don't like the idea of making a bowman just for SE, so I was thinking about making a Dual Blade Thorns mule. I have more than enough NX to afford the books- in fact, I like the idea of cash shop books since I can't afford the regular 4th job mastery books. As far as I can tell, thorns seems like a decent alternative to SI. I also think Dual blades would level a lot faster from what I've seen of them.

For those who like to play it safe and not be hellbanned The following is a public service announcement an test of the emergency basilcast network *Tornado Siren noises* A Hacking/banning watch is currently in effect for Los Angeles, CA. Residents of MS are encouraged to use caution when trading in the FM. No hellbans have been spotted, but conditions are right for some to form. If a full blown hacking epidemic is spotted on the ground, a warning will be issued. We now return you to your regularly scheduled Mapling. *Tornado Siren noises fade* So, it seems obvious to anyone actually trying to legitimately grab snowflakes that hackers are simply hoarding/vacing them up themselves. Already there's reports of shops in the FM asso

The key to a happly maple-life and real-life It's quite simple. It's simply requires a tiny bit of patience. 1) Recognize that MS is a game. A fun, addictive game, but still a non-essential part of life. 2) When possible, log on from 2-n accounts every couple days in your spare time (however many accounts you feel comfortable maintaining) 3) Play whatever character/account you happen to enjoy at the moment in your spare time (while not busy with life, relationships, school, work, etc...) 4) When Nexon has a bit of a 'hiccup', reap the rewards* *2 is the key. Whether it's an overpowered event like the Time Travelers medal, or a rollback that gives your 10 accounts 10k maple points, by having logged on every so often, you'll end up with an ob

Stage 4 quests- Creating order out of Chaos There seems to be a LOT of info flying around, a lot of which contradicts itself. Example 1: People are taking 300 damage from aliens with their suits on, others are getting 1 hit KOd at 5k+ damage! Example 2: I saw someone chatting that they got a large number of powders, they did it with their 178 AM and were receiving many times more powders than another low level person got. I think the AM was lying, but maybe not. So, let's see if we can't figure out this mess. Provide some info on: 1) What level are you? 2) How long is it taking you to complete 1 set of quests for powder? 3) How many powders did you get per set of quests? 4) How many upgrades did your suit pieces have? (Not how many pieces v

Stage 3 jump quest question I'm talking about the room where you must "stand on the top platform for 5 seconds to unlock the portal to the next room". If I go in with my HB mule on my second PC, do both characters need to be on the platform at the same time? Or can I get my 'main' on the platform for 5 seconds, then go to my second PC and get my HB mule on there while letting my first guy get zapped and fall down. This would let me actually do the PQ without having to fight over loots, which is just annoying. Thanks for any info anyone can share that's actually done that room with more than 1 player!

A perfect solution to mesos seller sites Mesos selling website are successful because there's a large enough demand for mesos for people (like myself) that have far more $ than time. I personally don't use them, but I understand the allure. So, why not simply allow people to put mesos in the MTS? That way Nexon makes money from mesos sales, not the mesos sellers. The free market determined ratio of mesos to NX ($) is maintained. Also, there is no inflation (because no mesos are added to the economy- they just exchange hands). I honestly can't see a single flaw with this logic of allowing mesos to be bought/sold in the MTS. People will need to buy NX to buy their mesos, so Nexon makes their profit (instead of some annoying mesos selli
