Whos in Florida or has been there?

In case any of you either lives in Florida or has been to Florida Beaches, can any of you tell me which ones are the prettiest?

Tell me about the beaches you've been to, their characteristics (e.g. color of sand, color of water, are there lots of plants (which) or specific animals (e.g. turtles? )
and in which season you've been to them or which season is the best to be at the beaches there

I've heard it's rather hot and I'd like to go to there in late summer/fall. Is it rainy during fall?

In general I'm looking for a pretty location to go to for 1-2 weeks, I need great weather and such for it.

Anything else you can suggest for a nice little vacation? Preferably with water nearby.

Edit: in case this helps, I'm looking for a beach to marry on. I'd prefer white sand and calm water and mild temperatures since anything else could mess with the wedding itself wearing a wedding dress in temps above 30 degrees would be a pain and I wouldn't want it to rain on my special day so I'd hope I'll get lucky

I went to Florida last December and the most memorable beach for me was Daytona Beach. The weather was perfect at a nice 15C, sunny, white, soft, warm sand. Not too many people on a weekday but I don't know about weekends. I don't know if it rains a lot in Florida at that time but I was there for 7 days and I remember it was pouring for maybe 2-3 of those days.

@Nashi: Yes, gulf side is for you then.
The dry season is what is considered winter time so October, November, December, Jan, Feb, March is pretty safe those are also the times when the temperature will meet your 20-25C range but it may be more 18-25C, it tends to start getting rainy in the spring around June and so on. Even if it does rain it won't last more than 30-45 minutes unless it's a storm though so it's possible to wait out the weather. I wish I could give you a beach name but I really don't remember, when I went it was with my dad and sister and he'd just ask if I wanted to go to the beach, he wasn't very specific because there are so many choices depending on how far you want to drive but I personally think the best beaches are the ones not every goes to.

Yeah I have lived in so many places in the United States it's crazy! I'm 17 with my parents divorced since I was 2, my dad lives in the U.S and my mom lives in Canada but my dad is the one always moving, he does it because of work and school so if i'm living with him I can expect to move every 2-3 years. I lived with him the most while I was growing up which really sucked, none of that "we've been friends since kindergarten kind of stuff" I know live in Canada with my mother though.

@Zoneflare4: "THAT" image? xD
and West Coast is definitely too far away, I don't want the whole wedding party to have to travel that far. It would already take several days of time from us just getting there and back probably (wouldn't wanna fly there.. really too expensive..)
he can't quite take a lot of days off I'd think, just enough for the wedding + 1 week honeymoon probably.
My best friend from Germany will come as well and I'd like to show her around in our area so going too far away would just mess up everything

@Zoneflare4: Well you know I need a nice beach for later this year when I marrry Florida is "nearby" but I guess Georgia, SC, NC or Virginia works as well ... Just any beach on the East Coast really
@Craftinrock: Nargh is it always that hot there? I'd hope that in Sept/Oct/Nov it'd be less hot xD....
@halfway: I need a calm beach mostly so I guess we'd have to go to the gulf side..
Humidity and high heat + rain would really mess up my plans xD
Is there any time of the year where it's mildly warm (20-25C) and "dry" (no rain)?
I need a pretty location, I don't plan to go IN the water as much.
How come you've lived in Florida and Texas within such a short time frame? xD you move around a lot?

I've lived in Florida for two years, 4 years ago. The beaches I went to at least were pretty similar, it really just depends on what side of Florida you want to go to.

On one side it's the Gulf of Mexico which has nice calm beaches, with beautiful blue/light blue water, palm trees, sea oat grasses and I'm pretty sure the sand was a light tan, over all it's just full of relaxing beaches where you go to get a tan and go for a swim.

On the other side it's the Atlantic Ocean (think Orlando) I lived in Sarasota, Florida so I had to drive a couple of hours but it was a good experience. The beach was not as nice if you want to lounge but it was amazing in its own sense. The sand was much darker, not nearly as tan as the gulfs, the water was a murky greenish color but the water levels were amazing. They were much larger than the Gulfs and the water was a lot less calmer, when I first experienced it I was scary, it's like a shark was riding every wave (not literally) but it's no longer see through and maybe it was a windy day but the water would push me around, the water was more to have fun in like with a floaty/surfing opposed to having a nice swim, it tires you out pretty face but maybe it was just the beach I went to, I didn't spend much time on the Atlantic side that was just my own experience.

Edit: Ok I just read the Florida complaints and honestly I have lived in Texas too just last year and Florida is not that bad but then again it depends what you're used to. Florida gets uncomfortably hot in the summer but besides that it's really a nice place. It will rain often but only for short periods of time, the rain is likely to be warm and when it rains it is usually raining hard. Also if it gets too hot for you that's why everything is air conditioned and beaches, swimming pools are available everywhere.
