I'm half. Lived in Japan for 3 and a half years, then moved back to the states when I was 2nd grade. I forgot all my Japanese since my mom is an English major so she can speak perfect English at home with the family. I'm taking the class though and I easily qualified for 3rd year Japanese at my university, so I guess I still have a some Japanese knowledge in me.

Actually now that I look at it, I can pretty much still understand everything except for the super complex things such as politics on the news. Oh and reading a newspaper is super hard too >.>
Oh uh.. fluently?

Lets say i never went to any japanese school. I just listen to my parents speak and i just infer what each word means.
So I guess you live in the states? or somewhere far away from Japan right?
Well I myself don't know many concepts like to go to school there but I can defend myself. Enough to maintain a whole casual fluent conversation with any japanese out there.
I speak everyday with my mom in japanese in order to not forget what I have learned past the years. I have never lived before in Japan but have been there for 3 months at max. but didn't learn anything at all because I was 6 and all And it was not until now till I had any real interest in learning the language (8 years later fml).

=/... Well I guess since you're into japanese culture that much lol. But I guess I'm looking for actual nikkei's that can speak the language fluently (unless you do) and have actual japanese family.

@above
I meant both nissei and nikkei. But more than second generation, I'd like to meet descendants. And by the way yoroshiku! where are you from? Osaka here.

@below
I'm pretty sure China is very different from Japan?
@Natsumicla: How can you share cultures if you're only accepting one?
Read please. I want to share mostly with NIKKEI. Which means, japanese mixed with ANY other culture. Thank you.
EDIT: Thanks to all japanese that posted.

Why would you dislike your current nationality?

Edit: It's not discriminating culture. It's just pointless having people like you take up space on this thread if they don't have anything to do with the topic at hand.
That wasn't supposed to sound mean.
And wow, I really never thought you were japanese hehe that's awesome. But I kinda hit the jackpot when I thought you were somehow australian.

Nope, actually just saving pages, this is actually to communicate with japanese people and share cultures.
Thank you for thinking another thing I didn't have in my mind.
