when you get called like one of the boys

Question for all girls.
When girls use this phrase "you know, you're just like one of the boys". Is that girl being looked down upon? If you think deep and hard, girls hate each other because they suspect others are competition, and might get jealous because others look better in that outfit or have bigger ...so and so or look prettier etc. But when a girl is called "like one of the boys", are they being called that because they pose no female traits or any attraction for males?

So the big question is, if someone said you are "like one of the (opposite gender)" would you take it as a compliment or not?

That's insulting. I'm not one of those (granted, entertaining) apes.

P.S. girls don't hate each other idk where people are getting this idea but the more you spout it the more it becomes true and that's not pleasant

That would be great. Im really terrible at getting along with girls, not because I see them as competition but because I just never seem to find things to talk about with them o.o all the closests friends I've ever had have been boys...and the few girls I've been close with haven't been stereotypically "girly"
that being said, It's not like im a tomboy or I don't get hit on by guys...I guess it would just be nice to have a group of guy friends w/o the fear of one of them getting a crush on you lol
If I have a crush on the guy saying I'm one of the boys then yeah that'd be pretty devastating. But no, if anything I think other girls would be jealous of that girl because she's so close with a good group of guys while some girls yearn for attention from guys. It's not because they pose no female traits, it just means those specific group of males doesn't hold an attraction towards her. Just because one group of people is not attracted to you does not mean nobody else is.
Anyway yeah I'd take it as a compliment.
Your comments are awesome. You are truly one of the lads now.

I don't know, since society see's the average man as disgusting-lowlife-perverted pigs that will take money and one night stands instantly,
then i guess i would take it as an insult.

Depends on the tone and context

it is by definition sexist but what's intended really does depend on the context.
I think usually it's just a careless observation

I get this sometimes, and I don't take it as either an insult or a compliment. It just means that my interests align more with a certain category of people (guys in this instance).
