His eye doesn't become dark until AFTER he fights/seals the Black Mage, so this isn't from the "past" but the "future." And that is probably young-Athena Pierce that he is playing with...

A 100 years? passed, my fellow maplers and I discovered the same phantom, a thief class named Phantom... and although his 1st job skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he is ready to save anyone, but I believe Phantom can save the world. something like that?

Actually who sealed the Black Mage was Luminous. I think thats why he has now the darkness inside him. When he sealed black mage, part of Black Mage's evil was sealed inside Luminous. Phantom and Aran were holding Black Mage's army outside the temple. Evan, Mercedes and Demon Slayers were inside the temple, but already defeated.
Boy Nexon sure screwed up big on this one. In the video, his right eye was the one that turned evil and yet in these pictures it's his left eye that's evil.
