Just a question about hellban

I got hellbanned too even though I wasn't even on for the past 3 days.
Regardless, my question is why is hellban called hellban? Who coined the term?

During the last rollback duping thing, I got wrongfully hellbanned. I sent a ticket explaining how I wasnt even online, and within 3 days I was un-hellbanned. I was also hellbanned again during this duping thing and I sent another ticket in. Hopefully it'll only take a few days.

Lots of innocent including myself got trade block. Guess we just have to wait for the investigation to finish, though I doubt they would find anything since I didn't even touch the items

I was hellbanned years back when there was a meso exploit out, and I, being hapless, sold items to people who paid me in duplicated mesos. Nexon calls it "trade blocking" but you're prevented from dropping and putting things in storage as well.

I was hellbanned for a few months, so assuming you're unlucky, brace yourself.

If I remember correctly, I was also rendered incapable of chatting to people in game.

Well I was busy with new years party preparations as I was hosting it at my place so I didnt even know about the whole duping fiasco until I went to the homepage.
So I guess hellban is called hellban just because.

Do you get a message telling you you're hell banned? I was able to npc items, drop items, do trades with others and even opened a shop to sell items today in the morning. I came back at night to refresh my shop, but then after adding 7-8 items in, I couldn't click or move around any of my items. Do hellbans just come randomly even if you stayed logged in?

If you were hellbanned innocently, is there any way to get out of it? Are we stuck this way, or will they let us go eventually?

Because it feels like hell when you're hell banned.
