We need to boycott MapleStory
Thousands of South Koreans on Naver, basically the South Korean version of Google & CNN combined into one, are making absolutely disgusting remarks in regards to the gay marriage legalization today.

For those of you who can't read Korean, the comments below that news article say stuff like:
"This is the beginning of the end for America", "America is like Sodom and Gommorah, they will perish", "AIDS will become a widespread epidemic, don't marry the filthy American b--tches", "Americans are equal to animals if they allow this act of barbarism", etc.
Since MapleStory was made in South Korea, we must begin to boycott all products that relate to a country with such a primitive mindset. I thought a heavily modernized country like South Korea would have an open mind, but I'm just speechless right now.
*No this is not a troll thread, I seriously hate South Korea now.

People bringing it up in a gay marriage debate really makes me giggle.
yes...boycotting maple is definitely going to change the entire population of south korea. of course they all play... oh yeah let's not forget the entire maplestory community who all happen to agree with this boycott.
Im assuming you are south Korean...? Maybe not...? Anyways Idk why you are posting this because comments from naver news is well known for being TRASHY for the longest time. Also if you can read Korean, I'm sure you've recognized that many (like 7/10 ) of the most "liked" other words "agreed" comments actually support same sex marriage.
god I hate liberals let's just boycott everything because you get offended
Oh boy, I was expecting this thread to die. I guess it was created to add some life on Basilmarket/Maples perspective, well done OP, well done indeed. (After a burger and chicken sammich, reading 3 pages of comments).
Can't have love without hate.
Yin and Yang.
I don't think people who are gay should be discriminated. I have a few friends who aren't straight and quite honestly they're very friendly people. You can't judge people the way they were born. As a Chinese myself, I'm not agreeing with some of South Korea's methods but I can't say that they're all terrible people.
why are you ignoring the positive comments which have higher upvote>downvote ratios?
hah, Chinese parents are no better. I think this might be an Asian thing.
Yeah I think so too. The new generation is more open minded though.
It's an Asian thing. A lot of Asians are very conservative.
Mabinogi has Marriage Equality, why not MapleStory? Nexon America, I hope supports Equal rights...
I wonder if we'll get same-sex marriages in MapleStory
It's an Asian thing. A lot of Asians are very conservative.

Besides, Koreans typically didnt like Americans in the first place, even though South Korea is highly Americanized
Koreans tend to be very narrow minded, racist, and nosey, espeically most of the older generations. I can say this because I'm Korean myself and that's what I've been seeing. Maybe I'm in the wrong part of the neighborhood, but everywhere I go, Korean parents tend to annoy the crap out of me. They get into your personal business, and all they talk about is grades, school, and how much their child is better than you... which is why I kinda tend to avoid them.
i see the same type of rage comments on yahoo when there's an article about Israel
the people who comments usually are the extremists.

@Krishman : Someone picked up on it I see.
As a gay person I actually don't give a trash if they agree or disagree with the way i live myself as long as they are not terrorizing people over it.
Nexon or its representitives did not have a press statement that said they were against gay marriage so I dont see why I should boycott it.
Sodom and Gommorah is what got me interested in biblical interpretation
I don't mean to sound very poetic, however, what many people fail to recognize is the fact that we all share moral upright values that are very different in significance towards the individual themselves. However, our ignorance as a whole in human society holds us back from understanding what other lives mean to us, let alone ourselves. If one person doesn't agree with someone else's affiliation, then who cares? Is is hurting you? Did the person spit on you? If not, let it blow like a fart in the wind, and if so, then that's a different convo not meant for the internet. Also, there is some contradiction in your tone OP, not to be mean or anything. Also, the socialist party is meant for more than one thing as well, and it hasn't destroyed anything, in fact, likewise as stated, its the ignorance of human society at times as a whole. No offense anyone! It's just the fact that when people have little information regarding something, it tends to lead down the wrong idea, or as many people like to call it, "Lean not into thy own understanding"
Ehh it's just the comments section

Good thing we're Nexon America.
Yeah, don't care. I didn't stop eating chik filet and I'm not boycotting maple.
If you're boycotting, can I take your equips?
As a American, Im here with my bacon-wrapped shrimp not giving a %#^* about what other nations think about us.

Generalizing because it's true. That's such an ignorant thing to say. Stay in school.

i think you're just focusing on the bad comments. while i do agree that a majority of koreans are against same sex marriage and are really traditional, there's still a good amount who supports it. and korea is pretty slow when it comes to accepting new traditions. their government is just messed up, that's all i can say >.<
There were a few positive comments that I read, yes. But when compared to the overwhelming number of negative comments, it just made me facepalm.

I feel the need to point this out. You make the claim that you are open minded. However, you sound very closed minded when you flame other people or nations that have or state beliefs and values that are opposite to yours. Note: Not trying to put you down. I am just stating what I am observing based on the words you are using and the tone you are appearing to be conveying.
Lots of people in the US are saying stuff like that too. Boycott everything.
I'm generalizing because it's true. Almost all the comments say something negative towards gay marriage and America, and each have a ridiculously high number of likes compared to dislikes.
See for yourself.
The exact same thing is literally happening on Facebook from people living in the States. You can't generalize the entire South Korean population over their search engine's words.
@nopaycheck: Lol cali is just as terrible
But in mabinogi you can have gay marriage, so that mean some south korean is okay with gay marriage.
You think most of america agrees with it lol?
Look at the southern states lady, should boycott america too then
I don't have to deal with them since I live in California surrounded by understanding liberals.
well, theyre not wrong
amirite </3 </3 </3 <3 <3 o.o o.o o.o o.o >.< >.< >.<
There's not even gay marraige in maplestory even tho its illegal to ban it.
