GMS v.151 - Rising Heroes Echoes of Darkness Update Highlights

*sneaks in covering face with hands feeling like a major idiot*

Hiya Basilers,

Egads, this wasn't the right moment for me to sign up as "update notification person" after all! So little time and so much to do. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
Sorry for being hopelessly late and the resident site doofus (I'm staying away from my banhammer today, that's for sure) and for the sake of "better late than never"; here are Nexon's update highlights on v.151:

[header]v.151 - Rising Heroes: Echoes of Darkness Update Highlights[/header]

On July 9, say hello to Shade, Maple World's forgotten hero. Read on to learn all about MapleStory's newest playable character.

Many centuries past, the sinister Black Mage left doom and destruction wherever he went. Only six brave heroes dared oppose him, including Shade, but the valiant efforts of these brave souls were not enough to defeat the Black Mage. With no options remaining, the Six Heroes sought to seal the Black Mage with powerful magic. However, a sacrifice was required to activate the seals. Shade volunteered and saved the world, but at a great cost: now the very memory of him has been forgotten.

Today, Shade has been reborn in Fox Point Village, a distant land located in Grandis. Thanks to the kindness of the Pointy-Ear Foxes that live there, this forgotten hero has been brought back to the world of the living. This reawakening is bittersweet though, as Shade must come to terms with this new world, and the fact that most of his friends have been lost to time, just as he was.

Shade's main stat is Strength, and he uses Knuckles as his primary weapon - perfect for quick attacks. Shade can summon spirits to perform various attacks. Use the power of the spirits to aid you in battle! With Ground Pound, you can summon a nature spirit to punch the ground and damage multiple enemies. Using Spirit Claw will bring forth a wind spirit that can claw at enemies and pull them toward you in a fierce attack.

Take control of Shade and rewrite history!

What do you guys/girl think? I thought this class was supposed to be called "Eunwol". I'm a little out of date, about to come back to GMS after almost a year of not playing.

Thanks! Yep, I found a room fairly quickly, given my age. I share an appartment with two girls and a guy*. We had a "welcome new homie" bbq last Wednesday which was a lot of fun. I'm almost done with my Master's Thesis. I'll try to find work as a freelance translator. It's weird; I'm on the poverty line, but happier than ever. I guess I'm just glad I'm finally free.
*I didn't think a "happy li'l chickies house with 15 wonderful chikitas who are looking for a cute, happy, cheerful, adorable, dependable, boozing, feasting, wonderful, lovable new girliemate to share good and bad times with" would be the right place for me. I'm waaaaaay too old for that.
The summer holidays are about to begin so I'm temporarily out of a job as a private supporting teacher of English, so I'll have some time to rediscover GMS. So much has happened since I took a hiatus that I'll need some time to catch up. Apparently Savage Blow is back on its old position as "the main skill" for the Bandit and much more. Whew!

They gotta introduce the Alucard and Samus classes, that way they don't have to feign amnesia for losing their powers.

Maple's stories have beginnings, but technically no endings. They don't really interest me since all you end up doing on all characters is try to get to level 250 anyway. I guess the repeating "OH NO I LOST MY MEMORY!" and "OH NO EVERYBODY LOST THEIR MEMORY ABOUT ME!" motives are meant to explain why the once-powerful hero is now a puny little level 10. You wouldn't get away with that without an explanation of sorts. Well, I just ignore the stories and enjoy the gameplay. I kinda have the feeling I've seen them all.
Apropos, that reminded me of an email that was spread among the Dutch Efteling* community. These days people feel stories are "forced" upon us, leaving no room for our imagination; i.e. we aren't allowed to form our own story around our characters/funpark attractions/you name it any more. I remember that Maple literally didn't have a story; its slogan was "MapleStory - It's Your Story!".

* De Efteling is a theme park that's based around fairytales. Previously many attractions were open to interpretation, but starting in 2004 about every attraction desperately seemed to require narration of some sort and not every fan is happy about that.
Seems too familiar that i end up reading about the black mage needing a sacrifice and a "brave hero" steps up >.<
Anyways, useless point but the storylines suck.
I can't say the storyline is great either. It's just sad.

Everyone forgot about him. Even the people of the village who he woke up from his slumber forgot about him as he left the village to Maple World.

How many times is this bullcrap going to repeat itself with every new class. >.<

Why copy the content from the main site and paste it here?

This class was never supposed to be called "Eunwol", that was his Korean name and we all know, or at least most of us, are already expecting a name change when it hits GMS.

Shade is his official English name now.
cuz not everyone visits the main page or reads official posts as often. I include myself there

Copying the text from the main page is the usual method to announce a patch on Basil (I could paraphrase everything, but that'd be one heck of a job). I did make sure to acknowlegde they're not my uh.... intellectual property, so to say. o.o Reminds me I forgot to include a link. Thanks for pointing it out.

Well those name changes...

Just waiting for the unstated, yet potentially available summer shop limit reset. Also hoping for the Gold damage skin to be re-released.
