School me in grammar.

My girlfriend got an in class essay back and some of the grading I thought was a bit iffy so I came to see if you guys could find what exactly is wrong with a couple of sentences in the essay.

1. In this essay he introduces three types of territorial behavior that he has observed in modern society, tribal territorialism, family terrisorialism, and personal space.

2. Throughout his essay he relates the behavior of long forgotten tribesmen and midevil societies to the modern human, and gives example after example of repeated patterns and rituals that are still with humans today.

This is Composition 1101, or 101.

The point was that the teacher only cares about stupid commas.
eh that's stupid.
there should be less emphasis on tiny grammar mistakes and more on how good her ideas and everything were.
yeah, and she tells me that this professor apparently fails research papers with more than 3 grammar mistakes. even the most minuscule misplaced or misused comma.
My 1101 teacher only took off for grammar with serious infractions like fragments and bad run-on sentences.

Well, no.
In the first sentence, according to the teacher, the only problem is that there wasn't a comma after essay.
And in the second the only problem was that there was an extraneous comma after modern human.

The teacher critiqued that the paper was great, good ideas and structure but grammar made her lose 25 points.
How stupid.

2. run on sentence?
Neither of those is what the teacher took off points for. Well, half of your number 1 was right, the comma.
