Minecraft or battlefield 3, but is it even nominated?

Skyrim w/e looks like an stupid mainstream fantasygame with horrible graphics.

Either Skyward Sword or Skyrim. I personally hope it's going to be Skyward Sword because I'm a huge Nintendo fan .
Let's see...

-Pick a side in a civil war, take forts, occupy cities and even spy on the opposing army.
-Get drunk in a bar then run around skyrim piecing together what happened while you were wasted on mead(homage to the Hangover movies).
-Survive an execution mere seconds before the axe drops because of a dragon attack.
-Infiltrate a party to get information on the Thalmor and save a prisoner in the process.
-Become a werewolf and hunt down an organization whose sole purpose is the destruction of your kind.
-Battle un-scripted dragons that come in a variety of types and strengths
-Assasinate people
-Find pieces of an ancient amulet, learn its past and why it was destroyed and sealed and THEN fight the souls of three warriors who are forced to guard the amulet even in death.
-Find a prist of an opposing religion and save him only to beat him into submission so your master can claim his soul.
-Become a vampire and either live with the new-found powers and weaknesses or seek out a cure.
-Find the remnants of a dagger that is connected to the mythic dawn (from oblivion) to piece it together for a museum.
-Learn the power of the voice and use it to destroy the dragons that threaten to end the world
-Find books with history about certain areas or people in the game

I have no idea what game you think you were playing but the stuff I listed isn't even close to all the things I've done in game and I've barely covered half of the in-game map. To say that this game has no story is just incorrect, it's a sandbox game where you pick what and who you are, what side you're on and what your character is skilled in. You can be good and choose not to kill some one for their things, you can take their gold without hurting them so you can sell it to an underground network of thieves and fences or you can accept blood money to assassinate a person you don't even know. The game has so many quests and possibilities that I end up making 4 or 5 characters before even one of them finishes the main story line and my friends are still telling me about thins they've experienced in the game that I haven't even come across yet. If you think there isn't a good story in this game then.... you just suck at it because you're missing the real focus of Bethesda games, simple as that my friend. The game had four awards before it was even released and it comes from a game company that has had two other GOTY winning games in the past, it will be in the running and it deserves that spot without a doubt.
Cannibalism.
@Permafrost: I personally think skyrim is not goty material myself, even know its getting high ratings. Without a good storyline, I honestly don't wanna play the game, regardless of graphics, how many hours it will take, and such. Its world is huge and will take a junk load of hours to finish the game, sure, but the quests are just repetitive. Go kill the leader, go kill the dragon, etc, over and over and over. The storyline is boring, but not to the point where I would rather watch paint dry.
Skyrim for sure, I've power played it since it came out (aside from turkey day and hanging with some friend on the weekends) and there's still new stuff around every corner. There's even a 'hangover' quest.... I f***ing love that movie >.> b

I only wish Skyward Sword would win, but sadly, this will not be because 90% of the gamers out there will vote AGAINST it because "I won't vote for a Wii game." >_> Console wars are at an all-time-low right now where people join groups dedicated to hating on other systems. Due to games like Skyrim being multi-platform and being such a big hit, my bet is that it'll win.

It's sad. Skyward Sword is such an extraordinary game, but most people will not vote for it simply because of the hate and blissful ignorance toward motion controls. I don't mind if Skyrim wins instead, though. Skyrim is a very great game, but it holds no candle to where Skyward Sword stands in my heart.

@askmiller: its not about which game had the best rating, skyrim is just a grand game that has more to offer then any other game this year.
Its not a game, its art. trust me itll win. Its bigger than any other game that came out this year let alone this decade.
Yes it will be nominated because of that reason. Just like why Japanese have different taste in games and bias - I don't think it'll be nominated there.

This "nonsense" is what we call it: gaming journalism. Learn it, understand it and live it.
Skyrim seems to be favorite to win the most goty awards.
Portal 2, Zelda, Uncharted, Arkham City, and Dark Souls will get a few goty awards too.

GOTY wont be a wii game.. (unless it's a mario, really good, and has little to no competition.. just saying)
My vote goes to Arkham city.. One of the best games I've ever played.
