Ranma 1/2 man! I watched every single episode, OVA, and movie at least once. It's by Rumiko Takahashi, same person who wrote Inuyasha. The animation is subpar, and the plot is confusing, but the idea of changing between genders (or into an animal) when doused with water is really funny. Martial Arts Tea Ceremony sucks, but I watched those episodes anyway. What genre is it? Let me quote from TV tropes, "martial arts/urban low fantasy/slapstick comedy/sex farce/romance..."

Dub is pretty good, I tried watching the subs but everyone sounded the same.

[*]Clannad [Afterstory]: Best anime ever
[*]The World God Only Knows
[*]Black Cat
[*]Code Geass
[*]Korewa Zombie Desuka
[*]11Eyes
[*]Dragon Crisis [?]
[*]K-on![!]
[*]ToraDora
[*]Angel Beats

ALL SUBBED; DUBS ARE TERRIBLE

This is just based off of Death Note and Ouran Highschool Host Club though.

Higurashi no naku koro (Ni means season 1, kai means season 2, rei means season 3.)

The entire series is one big dramatic mind bender, it also has some famous murder/suicide/torture scenes.

Pretty much most everyone dies every 4 episodes of ni (season 1)

R.O.D the TV (Read or die) It's like Charlies Angels + Xmen. Good action/plot. I also love the fact that the main characters are paper masters (They can manipulate paper and turn it into dangerous weapons/constructs/clothes etc)

I see a very distinct lack of Gurren Lagann being suggested. It is by far the manliest and most extreme anime, and the second manliest and most extreme TV show (Megas XLR for great win).

Gintama (as above, but one note: the ending is horrible, and the anime in terms of the plot is ridiculous. I, for one, would have enjoyed it much more if there were many more serious episodes. THe comedy kills so many scenes, and sometimes you get sick of it ruining the potentially-awesome scenes)
Actually I'm fairly sure they're releasing a new season. So..what ending?
Best ongoing anime: One Piece
Best completed anime: Code Geass

It looks like you're into shounen, so I'll give you some mainstream ones that most people enjoy. One warning, if you're completely up to date on One Piece (ie you're not one of those ones that just watch the latest episode from time to time), then you might notice that nothing is going to best that, other than the artwork.

Anyway, here are the more mainstream ones...I'll add personal favourites if i think of any:

Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Bleach/Naruto - but i assume that you're not going to watch these, there's no way you dont know them
Full metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Fairy Tail
Full metal Panic! (the 3 seasons)

I'm stoned, because i can't think of anything..but there are many many more. You'll see them if you just search around a bit. All those recurring names are the mainstream ones.

But anyway, watch code geass. It was ridiculously epic for me, because i caught up on the first 45 or so episodes (2 seasons) pretty much all in one go. THen waiting for the last 5 episodes, one by one, made it all the more epic. I'm not sure how it would feel for someone else just watching it now, but i can assure you, the anime has the best ending you could ever get. It WAS very unpredictable at the time, although i dont know about now. I shouldnt have said that, but you probably would've found out anyway. The ending won't disappoint, nor will the anime as a whole.

And for those who haven't watched one piece from start to finish, let me reiterate - its THE best anime.
i love fumoffu tooo funnyyyyy lol
