Can you open the router's settings page from your browser..?

Also, try pinging a known IP address.
Click Start, then (on Windows 7) type in the search box: cmd
Then hit Enter.
At the top of the search result click on "cmd".
That should open a black background window.
Type in: ping 4 (dot) 2 (dot) 2 (dot) 2 then hit Enter. (This will send a signal out to a known DNS server and wait for it to signal back.)

It should say "Pinging..."
And then 4 lines saying "Reply from..." and then "bytes", "time" and "TTL" with numbers in between.
If you see that it means your computer can successfully send and receive signals to and from the Internet.

If it says "Timed out..." instead of "Reply from...", it means something is blocking the signal from getting out to the Internet.
Check to see if the WiFi is turned off.
Some laptops have a switch somewhere on the outside that lets you turn off the WiFi like if you're using the laptop on an airplane.
Or it might be a Fn key combination that has to be pressed to enable the WiFi.

You might have bumped a switch or inadvertently pressed the key.
I checked that (on my computer its fn+f2) and i can connect as i said i connect to it its just that my web browsers don't work and i can't play games like Maplestory that connect to a server via the internet.

Since this is a "new" laptop, has it ever successfully connected to the internet on your network?
