yea.... is it possible to make an item rare/epic/unique when it starts as nothing o-o and how do cubes work o-o i haven't played for a year... so yea

Steps:
Item with nothing
Potential scroll (hope it doesnt blow up like my z-helm today)
magnifine glass (from pot shops, gives you your 2 or 3 lines)
cube it if it doesnt have good stats (will stay the same line though)
cube about 20 more times till you get a decent line or 2
if it has nothing you have to use a potential scroll
possible to get, and cubing just resets the potentials.
