For those who got their wisdom teeth out

How long were you bleeding for after getting them removed?

I got mine out around like 2PM, and I'm still bleeding... (It's 6PM). I've changed my gauze 5/6 times already. THIS IS MISERABLE.

@PowPowHammer: my wisdom teeth were mostly pointing outward too, my issue was also that my roots were crooked and were going around/near my nerves which is why I had to go to a surgeon, maybe that's also why it bled more (cause of nerves being nearby).
At least you don't have pain, or do you? if it's only bleeding it's fine really.
Did you also have to do a blood test?
I had ALL taken out at once... xD I'm glad about that....

Did you guys know that when your wisdom tooth is growing upwards in the proper direction, and when it is getting extracted there is a chance the surgeon can crack your jaws. That is worse then a broken jaw, crack is like a fissure on your jaw where thr wisdom is located.
for me it bled that entire day (even though they said it should stop after 1-2h if I remember right?), thing is they left every "hole" open (besides one.. which strangely enough was the one that gave me most issues)
but it was fine afterwards. Don't worry, it'll stop soon, you should be fine by tomorrow.
If not definitely go back to your dentist/surgeon.
Yeah.. I only got 2 of my bottoms removed (for now, but considering all this horror I'm going through now, I want to reconsider taking the top 2 out now...). But it's weird. My bottom left one was the one that was almost horizontal, but that side isn't bleeding really. The other side though... the one that wasn't as horizontal, is the one that is causing me the most problems.

Pressure stops bleeding.
Bite the gauze. Don't move it around.
So does that mean you still have all 4? I would have kept all of mine for chewing purposes if it weren't for the fact that the bottom ones were growing horizontally.
Fortunately, I don't have any wisdom teeth.

Slightly off-topic, but I didn't even know having wisdom teeth removed was a common thing until a few years ago. Everyone in my direct and extended family either don't need surgery or don't have wisdom teeth.

@PowPowHammer Salt water apparently helps you heal faster. I don't quite get it myself but I trust my oral surgeon to know what he's talking about. It didn't sting my stitches (contrary to my expectations), so you'll be fine.

Try crying, it doesn't help but people do it anyway.

It helps if you drink pain medication and gargle with salt water.
Literally get water, put salt in it, and gargle.

Do it at least once a day until its gone. It kinda helps stop the bleeding.
I read online that they want people to do that, but like I was always confused as to why they want us to do so... I know when have cankers and stuff, we gargle salt water, but wouldn't the salt burn the stitches...? *cringes at the thought*

Mine were around the same as most of everyone else's, 2 days. It may have been less though if the gauze didn't pull on the stitches

I went out drinking the very next night, which probably wasn't a great idea considering all those meds I was also on, but hey everyone's different and heals at their own pace.

I've been changing the gauze every half hour. This is so bad... It's been 6 hours.

Also, I haven't eaten since before the extraction and I haven't taken my pain meds because I'm not really in pain, I'm just bleeding profusely.

Mine stopped bleeding right when I got home. I guess its just different for everyone, I tend to heal fast.

All 4 still on me. It's hurting right now, so I guess it's either growing or making contact with other parts of my mouth maybe? That's why it's hurting right now? Yea not sure if they must be pulled out, since they are not growing in a weird direction or affecting anything I don't think.

Lasted for 2 days. One of them grew back though. Don't shallow the blood. If you have Vicodin, you should be fine.

I bleed for 2 days, but after 1 day the blood only slowly comes out.
And they prescribed me with very strong pain pill.
I change my gauze pad every 1 hour, and every time i change it the blood is black....
When your blood is black on the guaze pad, that means the blood is dirty from exposure to the bacteria from your mouth at the same time with the environment

I guess I'm not sleeping tonight. Don't wanna swallow/choke on any blood when I'm asleep.

I don't remember much bleeding at all. By the time I woke up I barely had anything to deal with besides a sore face.

Pretty much the same situation you are in back when I did. This may continue into the 2nd day and during the third day you may occassionally randomly bleed and will need to gargle.
