I'm against religion.

If you say, "you're an idiot", people may think you mean, but they won't say you're "Closed minded."
However, if someone makes an equally unverifiable claim, without any evidence to support it, whether it be about ghosts, or psychics, or worst of all a matter of "faith" (which by definition must exclude evidence), you must "respect" them. It is a "matter of opinion" and "everyone has their beliefs" and you must be "tolerant".
I'm calling shenanigoans* once and for all. Putting the foot down. If you make a claim without evidence, a claim which is an affront to reason, a claim that is absurd, your claim is now publicly available for ridicule and scorn.

I always see atheists make flame threads like this one, yet I barely see any made by Christians.

Religion couldn't save anyone; it only made them too prideful, too "knowledgeable", and not loving in what they did.

I'm atheist too, but to be honest, this thread doesn't seem to have any deep meaning but trying to start a flame war.
Having argument with a religionic person is like having argument with a wall. Useless.
I understand why you're against religion because of logic.
But you do realize that religion is what shaped our society up to today.
And without religion, where will our hopes lay on?

Think of the worst-case scenario where religion doesn't have any impact to the people dated back in like year 1000.

first point: are you taking into account that some prisoners convert to religion after being put in prison? also it doesn't actually say that much when most prisoners are religious considering most people are religious.
second point: that's not "religion" though. centaurs, invisible pink whatevers, etc. are absurd examples made solely to "prove" how ridiculous religion is. but you really need a solid example that doesn't rely on hyperbole for anybody to take it seriously.
anyways, i'm not religious but i see a lot of social benefits to religion and i admire the base ideals religions are constructed on (even if they are almost always corrupted). being so obsessed with how religion is bad or stupid just seems like a waste of time to me, especially since it's centered on what other people think and do. as long as religion is kept out of lawmaking then there's not much to worry about.
I believe in ghosts but I'm not religious.
