upgrading case and gpu Hey guys so I made a previous thread about a month ago on whether to keep parts for a new build or build a new one altogether. However, figuring that one of the reasons I built a rig was so that I can upgrade and due to money issues as a Uni student, I decided to simply upgrade some parts. Current parts: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz 8gb RAM (2x2x2) AMD Radeon HD 6770 Western digital 500gb Asus M5A87 Corsair Builder Series CX500 V2 Thermaltake v4 Case I want to upgrade the case because everything is dusty-ish right now so I want to dust everything and put into a new case(any recommendations?). Secondly, I want to upgrade to an R7 GPU for increased gaming performance. I'm making this thread to ba

laptop for university Hey guys I was wondering if any of you can recommend me a good laptop for university that's under or around $750? I will be studying computer science but I don't think that really matters. I understand laptops aren't really designed for gaming and I built my desktop for that but I'd still like something that can play casual games. Input from current or past university students will help as they have first hand experience regarding laptops inclass/ for homework etc. PS This is in Canada so please link a laptop that I can buy from a Canadian store.

Java help please These are the exercise instructions that I had to complete: When cashiers make change they first try to "fit" dollars into the amount you get back, then try to fit quarters (25 cent coins) into what is left over, they try to fit dimes (10 cent coins) into what is now left over, then try to fit nickels (5 cent coins) into what is left, and finally are left with a few odd cents. For example, say that your change is 163 cents: • One dollar fits into 163, leaving 63 cents. • Two quarters fit into 63 cents, leaving 13 cents. • One dime fits into 13 cents, leaving 3 cents. • No nickels are needed. • Three cents are left. Your change is : 1 dollar, two quarters, one dime, and three cents. An

RAM Help please Hello. So yesterday morning I turned on my computer and the PC lighted up however, my monitor and the "boot up sound" didn't go on. I tried restarting several times and nothing happened. I built my computer so I cracked it open and could hopefully see what the problem was. First thing I see is the MemOK light on. So I thought my RAM was busted. (Was running 2x2 and 2x4). Played between the sticks and kept getting error. So I ran to the store and picked up two new ram sticks. Put them in and same problem (now returning them). Now I started to play with the sticks even more so. The only time it works if it ONE of the sticks is in b2 (if another one is in B1 it loads but only recognizes the memory in B2). If I put jus

pc building questions Canadian prices please I'm planning on building a new PC around October and intend to use it for GTAV and upcoming Star Wars Battlefront. As a result, I have the following questions: Will $800 CAD be enough to build a solid PC or will I need more? (Really want to avoid dishing out more money as I'm a student in debt, etc) I have the following build from late 2011, is it worth upgrading instead of building a whole new PC? AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz 8gb RAM (2x2x2) AMD Radeon HD 6770 Western digital 500gb Asus M5A87 Corsair Builder Series CX500 V2 Thermaltake v4 Case If I build a new PC what can I do with my old PC? (Family doesnt need another PC and I'm pretty sure no one would want to buy it)

Anything worth to keep for a new build I'm considering building a new computer over the summer depending on how many shifts I work. Here is my current 3 year old build which can still run many great games well: 1. AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz 2. 8gb RAM (2x4) 3. AMD Radeon HD 6770 4. Western digital 500gb 5. Asus M5A87 6. Corsair Builder Series CX500 V2 I figured ill keep my peripherals for sure and my wireless card but I was wondering if any of the above parts are worth keeping? EDIT: I dont know why the list has all #1's in it, I numbered it well when I first posted and when I checked the edit.

Best computer for 800 Okay so my friend is looking to buy a prebuilt computer for around $800-$900 CAN. Now don't tell me that building a computer is better because that's blantly obvious especially because I built my own, however, my friend isn't very tech friendly so I would appreciate some suggestions for a prebuilt one. He just wants something that's good (not some next level stuff) and is the best bang for his buck. He will probably be doing gaming on this computer (probably nothing TOOOO high graphics intense) among other things such as school, etc. EDIT: He's realllllllllllly not tech friendly. He's been using a computer for years and knows how to use but he doesn't know the basics when it comes to the actual hardware or software. Fo
