Books Galore: recommendations?

Well I assume some people have made this thread before but uh...
My exams are starting soon but when they're over I'll have finished high school with 3 months of spare time until uni begins, so I want a few good books to read.
I like fantasy/romance/dark fantasy/action/adventure

Here are the books I've read and/or own:
Old Stuff yes don't laff I loved these as a kid
Babysitters Club

So basically yes fantasy/romance/dark fantasy/action/adventure/chick flick as you can see from ^

always had a soft spot for the Old Kingdom trilogy by Garth Nix. Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke is possibly one of the best magic/fantasy books i've read, but it's more if you're into a practical magic mindset...not like Harry Potter stuff. and an extremely quick read but one of my favorite books, The Little Prince by Antoine de Sant-Exupery.

oh and Neil Gaiman's stuff.

@TopMushroom: lol no not test, I have a pretty decent vocab. Some of my teachers don't know of the words I use. Thanks for recommending Stephen King but I don't do well with horror/gore, really can't stand it!
@BluffinMuffin: will check that out
@firelordXD: ooh ok Percy Jackson got turned into a movie didn't it? Shall check that out as well. I've read Stargirl. It turned up in an exam I did for English one year as well.
@DarkFairy18: I haven't been accepted yet o.o and I want to read for enjoyment not thick uni textbooks that cost over $100. I have to sit my hs exams before I can get into uni :S
@Bellaluna: lol thanks but no horror for me. I'm gonna try those True Blood books.

Thanks everybody!

Read Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
It's an awesome series.
Also read The Ranger's apprentice series.
Another awesome series.

Oh and read Stargirl XD. It sounds funny, but it's actually an amazing book.

a game of thrones by george r.r. martin is pretty much the de facto dark fantasy series.

Wow, we must have similar taste because I've read nearly everything on your list =D

Here are some of my favorites:
-White Oleander
-Memoirs of a Geisha
-Silence of the Lambs
-Gemma Doyle Trilogy
-Hunger Games Trilogy
-Nearly anything by Stephen King- Shining, Carrie, Pet Sematary, 'Salems Lot, etc. Also, Eyes of the Dragon -- it's not a horror novel, but it was the first book I've ever read by him, and I loved it.
-The Princess Bride
-Catcher in the Rye
-Sookie Stackhouse series
-Interview with the Vampire
-Nightwatch Trilogy
-Mary Higgins Clarks books -- she writes a lot of whodunit type things. Where are the Children, Loves Music Loves to Dance, You Belong to Me, Nighttime is My Time...

These are all I can think of off the top of my head. I'll come back and edit if I can think of anything else

Jodi Picoult, George Orwell, and Aldous Huxley are my faves.

I suggest you read dystopian novels. They sure are a time consumer. I especially like Brave New World.

Anything by Jodi Picoult.
I highly recommend My Sister's Keeper, Keeping Faith and The Pact.

Didnt even read your post.

I assume you need to widen your vocab for some test.

Read Stephen king's books, and random Edgar Poe stories. Poe's vocab isnt the widest, but is still helpful.

Oh yeah, the the book "The Sight" by David Clement Davies, has some pretty big words in there
