Need help with grade 10 algebra
Ben and Jerry went on a camping trip with their motorcycles. Jerry left camp on his motorcycle to go to the village. Ten minutes later Ben decided to go too. If Jerry was travelling at 35km/h and Ben travelled at 45km/h, how long, in the nearest minute, before Ben caught up with Jerry? Show you work.
Thanks

They're both going to the same place so distance is the same
Jerry-
D=35t
Ben- had a late start so he has less time
D=45(t-10) or 45t-450
Set the equations equal as distance is equal
35t=45t-450
-10t=-450
t=45
They meet up in 45 min[/quote]
Yeah this makes sense. Thanks
