How to stop mindlessly spending money?

I've seemed to convince myself that I "need" items in games I play even though I really don't. I was just contemplating spending $30 on this other game I play, but after a lot of contemplating I was able to convince myself I didn't need it. I also seem to order a lot of miscellaneous things from the internet. I also buy a lot of fast food.

This is not a good habit as I'm about to enter my first year of college.

Basil is full of wise adults(or at least those who act like it). Give me advice.

Especially in College you have to watch how you spend, but learn how to treat yourself every once in awhile. Like someone else in here said, you need to focus on priorities and see where you can put your money to its full potential.

Transfer some money to a trustful family member. Tell them not to give it to you unless you're in dire need.

Well depending on your income, it always good to set yourself a spending budget every week like $50 for food and stuff.

Also you could also minimize your spending habits like buying cheap food like instead of buying a $10 meal for lunch, you can spend $3 at mcdonalds daily value stuff or you can bring your own lunch.

you'll probably have too much work to do in college, assuming you study properly.

Anyways, the couple hundred you have now will be worth nothing once you leave college.
So if you do enjoy what you buy, then just buy it.
Otherewise... idk...
Also, savings of different kinds

I used to buy fast food a lot too. Took that money and saved it to spend on other things I was buying at the time, like League of Legends skins.

Now I don't buy fast food 4 times a week or spend money on video games because I'm going to need money to go out to bars when I turn 21.

It's all about thinking about what else that money can do for you.

Stop buying fast food. If you get it at a grocery store and cook it yourself you can eat healthier and save a ton of money. And if you break one habit it'll be easier to break others.

I did the same thing. I was going to pay $20 for 2500 diamonds in Boom Beach. I was about to pay but then I stopped and realized that I don't need to do that.

It's hard to not spend money you have, but sometimes you have to tell yourself you don't need what you want to buy.

Noticing the habit is a start.
In college, it will feel like you have money, but you actually don't. I sometimes do that, like just today I paid for Ryu and I rarely even touch the game anymore.
