Careful about Online Dating My Catfish story
So I was watching the movie Catfish yesterday and it took me way back when I used to date in MS..
Well, I got catfished. If you don't know what Catfish means it's basically someone who uses
a fake identity to try to start a relationship. Basically someone who impersonates someone they're not online.
For example: That hot 17 year old girl you met online can be a creepy 35 year old man in real life. o.o
Well anyway,
It all started 4 years ago, I was playing Bera (best server imo) and I met this one girl named Nikki online.
We met at Henesys (Maya's house.. LOL) and we started talking for a little bit.. boy, was I sprung.
This girl was really cute and we would always talk like a couple callin each other babe and what not.
Well after 3-4 months of talking to this chick, I eventually asked her to be my girlfriend.
Now I'm not going to lie, It wasn't my first time falling for a chick online and I swore I'd never do it again
but this girl really drove me nuts. We eventually took it outside of MS and started chatting on AIM(back when AIM was relevant)
3 months in our relationship, and I swear I'm in love. She was just everything a guy can ask for.
But, something was starting to get fishy. Just being honest, I only saw 1 picture of this girl during
the whole time I was talking to her and it looked legit ( I didn't know about reverse image search back then)
I asked her if she can talk on the phone, but she told me she had no phone. Okay, believable I guess.
Also, asked her to video chat one time and she made up a excuse saying "Oh I don't have a webcam"
Which was kind of believable at the time but, still pretty fishy. So, I was like "Okay.."
I didn't really think about it because of denial and the fact that she seemed legit.
3 weeks in, and I notice she stopped going on AIM. I thought something was up
so I asked her ingame, She told me "Oh I don't like using AIM anymore"
I had doubts and I was skeptical but I was too naive to question her so I let it go.
But things REALLY started getting fishier, JUST BEING HONEST we were talking about
"things" (yeah, you'd probably guess what that is) and it sounded like she didn't know what she was talking about.
Well, I pressed the issue even more and begged her for another picture, she finally said fine
and sent me one. THEN I KNEW SOMETHING WAS UP, the picture she sent me was a DIFFERENT GIRL.
LIKE NO LIE, I mean she was the same race and they looked similar but, SOMETHING did not add up.
So I decided to investigate, I looked up anything I could think of on google images like "blonde teen girl"( sounds really wrong LOL)
and stuff. I EVENTUALLY FOUND THE EXACT SAME PICTURES THAT SHE SENT ME.
When I confronted her about it, she asked me "What are you talking about?"
I told her "I know everything, I even saw your pictures on google images.."
She finally broke down and admitted it. I was kind of heartbroken at the time and I was wondering why she was lying to me.
But that's not even the end, I FIND OUT SHES' A FREAKING GUY which REALLY freaked me out.
One of her friends that know her in real life told me after we broke up and DANG, I FELT SO WRONG.
I confronted "NIKKI" about it, and HE actually admitted it. At this point, I just said "dude your a ****ing sicko"
He tried to say sorry but, I was just way too disturbed and pissed off to talk to this guy so we said our goodbyes.
Never saw "HER" log in ever again after that day.
So, my point is guys. When your dating someone on MS and they seem like the perfect person make sure your careful.
1. IF she/he says can't webcam or call, IT'S A NO GO. like SERIOUSLY.
2. IF the person in the picture looks like a model, IT'S A NO GO. (cus chances are they're taken from google images or a modeling site)
3. IF she/he talks about "things"(you know what I'm talkin about) and it seems a little bizzare, IT'S A NO GO.(most likely, not too sure)
4. IF she/he sounds way too good to be true, chances are she/he PROBABLY IS.
Well, thats all I can think of.

people r so dumb I honestly don't know how anyone can get catfished. The only close friends I've made over the internet have been people who I would skype/video chat with or at least done voice calls with. Anyone who refuses to show you a photo of themselves and are trying to get "close" to you are immediate red flags lol. This is basic internet 101. The fact that this happens so frequently they could make a movie/show off of it is ridiculous.

I haven't ever had a friend online who I wasn't 100% sure of what they looked like or of who they were.
I honestly don't see how people can even get catfished when there's so many ways of confirming someone's identity. If I talk to someone a lot and I like them enough to continue our friendship to instant messaging or skype or whatever, one of the first things I do is video chat with them--not even to confirm their identity, but simply because I want to speak with them face to face like I would any normal friend I have in real life.
This happens all the time.
Especially when the guy showers the girl in gifts.
Look at FFXIV and Tera.
The majority of the people playing Female Lalafels and cats are male, because of RPing and create-a-waifus.
