Computer Keeps Freezing. Not Sure Why

Sometimes, it'll just stop. It happens randomly, from what I can tell. I think the graphics processor was going bad... Could that cause it?
If you want a more detailed explanation of what happens, everything's just completely stopping. The computer stays on, and I think all of its insides are still running, just nothing works. Not the mouse, keyboard, or anything else.

Any clues as to why it's doing this? I've already virus scanned and scanned for malware, and nothing, other than a few tracking cookies, which my anti-virus popped up things about almost every time the little ad opens after closing MS...

Can't find any obvious system changes... Nothing downloaded that I can find, and nothing with my anti-virus...

Any clue if reinstalling Windows will help? I can re-download anything important again.

EDIT: I think it might have just been overheating... I cleaned everything out nice and good, just now there's a clicking noise... Sounds like it's coming from the hard drive, or maybe one of the fans...

It doesn't happen while doing really light tasks, like only browsing the internet on one tab. If I try much more, it'll freeze again.
And the mouse icon will still do its animations, if it has any when it freezes...
could be a bad driver. have you updated any drivers recently?
No. And it only started happening Saturday night, after my nephew was using it for a while.
Think he managed to break it somehow?
