just work on macro

Edit:
learn one build. don't care if it's cheesy like four gate or roach baneling, do the build over and over again until you don't get supply blocked, and constantly keep your minerals and gas count low. watch your replay to make sure you're always building workers (D for production tab). do it over and over again since that's a surefire way to improve mechanics. strategy and counters are almost completely irrelevant at the beginning levels of play. as long as you're constantly making workers and spending all that money, you're sure to get to diamond within 2 months time.

If you're beginner for starcraft, just focus on getting workers and units . forget about what counter what

Well I had the same problem but as time goes by you get better with macro and builds and what not.

Do what cb000 said.

I had this game since January and I still haven't gotten the basics down. I've been jumping from protoss to zerg and I can't seem to just stick with one. >.<

I disagree with the needs for timings. IMO, it is really only a hassle to remember timings and makes it more difficult to focus on analyzing the situation. Scouting is important too.

Keep building workers. Your CC/Nexus should always be building workers until you have 60-80, depending on build. For Zerg, don't miss Queen injects and know your proper Drone timings. You want to squeeze out as many Drones as possible without dying from a push.

Expand properly. Having only one base's worth of resources usually isn't enough. However, you want to expand only when you know you can defend properly.

Don't miss your supply. Make sure to build extra Supply Depots or Pylons or Overlords before you cap out on supply. Time them out so they finish around the time you cap, so you can have continuous production.

Do not miss production cycles. This includes queues on buildings, Warp Gate cooldowns, or Queen injects. Each time you miss a production cycle you lose valuable time. Likewise, if you're queuing multiple units, don't queue more than 1 extra, since units in queue take up money that could have been used elsewhere. Only queue extra when you know the next production cycle will start.

Spend your money. If your money is just sitting there, that's money that could have been used to make more units. If you find yourself stockpiling too much money even with proper queuing, then it's time to build more production structures. Put a goal like...keeping your minerals under 300 or something.

So...I guess these are mostly basic mechanics. Just keep practicing and you should get the hang of it.

uhhh... Well it does kind of matter what race is your main race. So what race do you like? I recommend Terran or Protoss for new people. Zerg is quite hard to play.

You want to macro and get your economy up faster, so expanding early to get more money, but at the same time you are very vulnerableto an attack. So scout around and see what your opponent is doing. If he looks like he's macroing, then go ahead and expand. If you see like a few unit production sites, he might be doing a time attack.

Ima play starcraft 2 soon when im not busy. Wanna play with me and practice sometime?

If you're playing against bots, try setting them to an easier difficulty, or set up a match where you're allied with another bot and watch how they go about early setups and construction.
If you're playing against other human players however, you'll probably never win. It's a tourney-centric game where it's "cookie-cutter build or get out".
Macro. Economy is the core to this game. Unless, of course, you rely on cheesy rushes.

At low levels of play, players are too scared to attack or rush. It is best to get a very strong macro lead by building workers and keeping a smooth game without being supply blocked. With a stronger economy, your unit count will be much higher than theirs.
Oh okay, Thanks for the information!

You can't make build them faster.. Learn to manage your resources and learn about timing.
