Continue as a bishop or change to an I/l

Hello fellow basilers and maplers, I haven't played the game regularly for at least a year and I've heard explorer classes are able to change their jobs now. I'd really appreciate your help as I decide on whether to remain as a bishop or switch to an I/L or F/P as my main. I wanted to be an I/L because I've always found them fascinating and my first character (discontinued now) was actually an I/L. However, I heard you need more funding for an I/L than an F/P...but I don't like the look of green farts

So please help me decide or convince me to remain/join in your class. You can click on the poll options below but it would be even more helpful if you provided your line of reasoning too.

Pros for switch jobs:
- I will finally be able to attack (not that I didn't before) and defend myself against ksers better and this will probably make the game more fun for me
- solo questing and training won't be as difficult (there was a lot of pain and struggle in this as a bishop)
- I don't have to pay heaps of nx to scissor or re-cube equips
- my 42% int will be more advantageous to an attacking mage than as a bishop
- I can always create another bishop and level it easily
- I can still help people through attacking rather than supporting by buffs

Cons (these are mainly sentimental):
- my dream and the joy of being able to help others by supporting them shall end here...although I could create another bishop anyway and there's different ways of supporting people
- there was a lot of time and toil invested into this character (Pre-BB solo himes and later on, soloing at elderwraiths and galloperas because of my time zone, also a lot of ToT questing and no, I am not a rope hanger despite how weak I am)
- I will continue to be a weak solo attacker and continue to be ksed by everyone
- it takes a lot of money to increase my damage
- it costs me just under 400m at level 193 to switch jobs
- I will have to buy all the skill books for my new job

Let me know if there are any other pros and cons you can think of.

Why would you switch from a Bishop to an I/L Mage? o.o Bishops are the best <3 They're like needed for everything especially if you love bossing. If you are decently funded, you will be able to solo bosses too. Never give up on being a bishop! Even though we are treated like slaves, we are one of the most important classes in game As a bishop, you can have damage as well as some support skills (e.g. Heaven door, Heal, Dispel, Angelic Blessing, etc.)

When you play as a bishop, you're the best support class in the game.
What are you as an I/L? Nothing. Just more damage, like 30 other classes.

What's silly is that I just recently job switched from an i/l to a bishop!
I actually think I enjoy being a bishop more than i/l which i found
extremely surprising because I absolutely adore i/l. I agree with a
previous comment basically saying f/p = dmg, i/l = uniqueness,
bishop = leveling. Once I get to a plateau with my excitement towards
leveling and doing bishop things, I will definitely switch back to an i/l.

But, I would recommend staying a bishop and if you feel like you changing
things up (mid-maple life crisis) than definitely try an i/l!

oh yeah, also, i died 5x more as a bishop than as an i/l and i want to
attribute death factor to just the different play styles.

@HopelessWorld: you should have like 70k or more mp without you gear on level 200. my il mage has 40k. My evan bam and luminous all have around 70k+ with no gear. Glitch has been around a long time.
You cant change to an il unless you are ok with losing 30%+ of your mp permanently. the mage open job avance is glithed. With the frost orb glitch gone thre is no reason to even play il mage over bishop. IL mage doesn't boss that much better but bishop trains about 2x faster.
When did this take effect? I changed my I/L to F/P while back and I didn't seem to notice any mp loss.
I was having this same questions and then changed to IL. I missed a lot the bishop tbh, my rage remained almsot the same but as bishop i was dealling more damage! Its also too hard to survive as I L, i die everytime! Really, i was invincible as bishop, and now im ~~puff~~~. Angel ray cures, thats awsome, and the one target mode makes u better in boss then il, at least for me it was. Big Bang is stronger than chain lightining but crappy range. And more, people dont add me to parties anymore... before it was like, OMG HS ADD HIM FAST
I stopped the quests in kritias as IL becuse i was dieing too much and the monsters have so much life, but chain lighining will help a lot there...
You die on a mage all the time? Compared to every class other than warriors mages are tanks, if you're dying it's not because of the class that's for sure. It's because you don't know how to use a pot. I've been both bishop and I/L there isn't even a a comparison when it comes to attacking, I/L is superior. Bishop is a painful class to play if you want to kill anything.

Anyone who wants to say a bishop is strong please go play one first. Slow. Clunky. Weak. Great for support and and leeching from a rope though.

I dont like F/P... People say he is easy to cap and etc, but he have no survability, like IL. U have to stay using a lot of different skills to add DoT, and moving, and cassting Poison mist, to finally explode it. I dont like the skills look too. I dont regret changing to I L, i mob really faster, and deal double damage in Gollux becuse of elemental decrease, but i die more, fact. Im learning how to survive yet cuse bishs was so much easier

Ah! So someone before me has gone and done it. I'm sorry for your bad experience
I think I'm going to try out an F/P instead. It may not have been my first choice but I heard I/Ls have to be really funded to be able to do decent damage and I'm not keen on spending a lot to be a decent attacker Yeah I definitely don't think we'd be as popular in parties but I'm fine with that too because most of the time I play solo anyway I will miss all the awesome buffs though...and bahamut

Thanks for all your input everyone. I'm most likely going to change jobs because soloing the quests in Kritias is killing me. Takes almost 10 hits to kill stuff >.<
correct me if i'm wrong: i believe first time you change job, its free, and I'm assuming you have been bishop forever
First time you also have to pay, it's only free if you got a jobchange coin.

Bishop is still a solid mobbing class, and having those party buffs will make it way easier for you to get in parties while grinding in Stronghold.

Also, I'm personally not too fond of the new Ice Lightning. It feels like they wanted to add Fire Poison features into him with the freeze stack thing, and I don't really like how it turned out. I preferred the playstyle of the pre-RED version.
