Black screen crash?

I was doing the Mushroom Kingdom quests and I got to the part where you need to use the Thorn Remover which activates a mini-cutsene, after that happens I see my character in the middle of the screen and the rest is completely black I can't do anything, not even quit the game, I had to end the process to leave.
After I come back I see that I don't have the Thorn Remover, the thorns aren't removed and I can't proceed on the quests.
Cool eh?

Edit: I can't forfeit the quest because it completed.
