Bishop Vs F/p Mage?

I'm recently coming back to Maplestory (quit after big bang), and I have a 133 bishop. I enjoy healing people and providing support, even if it was a minimal amount of it; I used to freeze mobs for friends while grinding on this same character (transferred to bishop). Due to the changes in Ice lightning mages, I stopped enjoying playing them because the "freeze" is really just a glorified slow + defense removal.
I now have a 133 bishop, and play with a small group of friends (4-5, who are also willing to start new characters if I make a fire poison mage). I have always admired the f/p mage's poison mist skill, and especially like any form of persistent damage (i.e. any tangible thing like minions or large persistent aoe), but at the same time like to provide support. I really like some of the changes to F/P while I was gone, but still would like to provide some form of support to my friends.
I am considering job transferring to a F/P archmage on my main, or I could make a f/p alt. I am in progress of the power of the spirit of fire quest (just finished lunar dews). Should I job transfer to F/P or stay bishop? Should I make a fire/poison alt, or just finish the power of the spirit of fire?
edit: I am used to playing support classes in other mmos where I play the whack-a-mole health bar game, and am used to keeping buffs/HoT's on allies and Dot's and debuffs on enemies

Second Edit: Second option should say transfer to F/P, make bishop alt

Why not just keep use your bishop then change classes at level 200 ? Since bishops have it easier finding a party.

Except post-Big Bang there was really no reason for a Freeze since you basically ohko'd everything or you'd be training on boss-tagged monsters that are immune to being frozen.

You can't anymore. For some reason a few features were removed from the forums (thread locking, report function) and have yet to show up again. I wonder what MrBasil is pulling.
I/L all da way man.

If I had to choose between those i'd probably go F/P
I liked I/L until they made the freeze into a glorified slow; I really love chain lightning (both animation and feel), but I prefer the way the other two mages play now

I decided on keeping my bishop and just making a f/p mage because of the input and votes.

Also, where is the button to lock thread?
What exactly do F/P mages offer that would be wanted in parties? Just lots of damage?
I think the only party skill they offer is meditation, which is only beneficial to mages.
Unrelated, but since you've recently returned to maple and are looking for an active guild to help you out, you're welcome to join mine, just apply by searching my ign in the guild window and hitting apply

Side note: one reason I don't like bishop atm is because their main aoe skill, big bang, makes it so party members can't see what they are doing.

Also, how low is the drop rate for the burning flares? I've grinded on poopas for ~10 hours and haven't gotten 1 (only 1x though)

Well, firstly, if u switch to F/P, ur support capacity to party members will drop 80%. So ur not gonna get a support and DoT mage explorer class at the same time.

If u want support and like DoT (I'm kinda in ur same boat), ur best option will be getting Oz flame gear. However, be warned that the quest takes FOREVER.
