Does level affect range a lot?
I see some lvl 160-170 arans with say around 15% STR and a 120 attack polearm but with 50k range buffed. I'm level 131, 83% STR, kanna link mule lvl 2, 168 att polearm etc and only have a 53k range buffed. Does level make that big a difference to range after 120? Or is it the fact that a full empress set is so good?

Hell yes, i havent gotten a equip upgrade since 140 and now i am 188 and i do WAY MORE damage. and Hypers help ALOT.
I have 8x% dex, 190atk bow, and level 200
i only have 70k range...
Adding points into your main stat does help your range, but the biggest difference that level makes to your range is when you haven't maxed your main 4th job skills yet. Those can make up a nice chunk of your range. Also having attack from equips besides your weapon can make your range a lot higher even without a lot of % stats. A few years ago, I used to have a higher range than NL's with 50+ more %luk than I had simply because I had attack from more places than they did. That may be why they're a lot stronger than you as well.
That's a pretty high range for 83% STR and a 168 att polearm.
My range is only like around ~30k - 37k buffed at level 140, without an empress hat, shoes, or cape.
(My face accessory is fail scrolled and I have no eye accessory)
I call bs on 15% str + 120 atk polearm getting a 53k buffed range. Unless their other equips are scrolled rather well, which i doubt.
I have a 53k range buffed (57k with combo):
Around 50% str (total str self buffed w/ Maple Warrior is 1861), and I have 136 atk polearm.
Total atk when buffed + including passives I have like 314 atk iirc.

Arans have a ridiculous amount of attack from their buffs and max combo.
Every level I get about 200 range increase on my Aran.
Into you get to 999 main stat leveling up always helps. I have 1000 STR now tough and just add into DEX.
Yes cause you has more of your main stat and %stat will add more stats.
It certainly helps, I remember 180-196 adding about 1-2k to my range per level just off the str increase.
that's like 150 STR and u prob didn't max ur core skills yet
i don't think it's possible to have 50k range with that little attack and % str on any 160 unless arans have some crazy scaling. my dark knight is 176 with 4 piece clean empress set, 21% from the tempest stuff (and a bit of other % str), and 135 atk polearm and only has 25k self buffed.
