Thief

Goodbye former Shadower self

Became a dual blade this weekend. No regrets. My keyboard is now filled with attacks I actually use and I no longer spam three abilities (ME, BS, And Assassinate (Also MC, but why until I hit mac range?)). Now I can spam four xD (PB, Flying Kick face thing, Bloody whatever, and the sonic move)... Heck... maybe I made the wrong choice... eh.. job advancement coins anytime soon?
In all seriousness though, who else changed their thief's class? Did you like it?

Your range is higher as a Shadower, but your assassinate is slower, hits less times... So at max damage... DB wins. And for mobbing, our percentage is higher for our kick and the mobility we have makes us a better endgame and training class. You can argue on fun all you want; that's fair. Arguing damage and use-fullness persay is not.

Thanks for the help guys - I'm still contemplating whether it's worth selling my Dragon Khanjar in exchange for all the mastery books + katara... no cash at the moment.

switched from Nl to shad just to try it and was too slow for me, then went Db, it was fun and fast then back to nl : P

I don't think NL's are raw damage. Having both my Shad and NL funded (Shad who is now a DB), I tested with similar equips and found that NL damage is pretty bad. There is a chart for percentage... and they're low.

I made a shad...Not really relevant to this in a way I guess.
Between my shad and DB, I love my shad like crey. It's so fun.

@Kinsok: I see, I guess if you put it that way then, yea they do have variety. Or maybe all the DB's I've encountered are doing it wrong haha

@iDivideZer0: I guess but by variety and such I just mean the db class is alot more fluid as compared to NLs/Shads. Also your thinking more on bossing whereas training is different as a db. You use more skills to rush mobs and can combo them whereas on a NL you don't combo anything and from what i've inferred from reading people talking about shadowers the combos are nowhere near as fluid as a dual blades.

@Kinsok: True. They all involve the usage of 2 skills? shad uses DS+nate

Variety is the last thing that comes into my mind when i think about DB. Asura > PB for 90 seconds > Asura again, rinse and repeat.

I went from Dual Blade to Night Lord, and it's the best decision on maple I've ever made
I found them better in every way, even my survivability was fine

How is it now with less survivability? I was thinking about doing the same but as someone who is used to playing a Shad and Drk, I predict myself dyeing a lot as a DB.

Went from DB > Shad. Found it really enjoyable then I realized I missed the speed of my DB and the fluid moves and went back.

I can see why people fanboy Shad's though, great class imo
I have to ask, could you go Shadower -> NL -> Shadower yet still keep your mastery levels (not having to reuse skillbooks)?

I feel that with the new Assassinate the Shadower playstyle is a bit wonky albeit higher numbers.
No, you cant. If you read the text that the job instructor in Leafre says you'll see that any skill book max levels you have will get wiped each time you change your class. So even if you have a shadower with say 30 in bstep, change to a NL, and switch back to a shadower your skill book master will be wiped back to master level 10

Nah. You can't keep the books. The NPC tells you... It sucks though... at least I hadn't bought the old maple warrior... and I stocked up on the old Assassinate books that no longer worked for around 2 mil each. Got maple warrior 30 as of now!

I switched my DB to a Shadower, don't plan on switching back. All I regret is not making a shadower earlier.

I disagree, I indeed loved my Shadower, but it was time to change. Being unfunded as a Shadower ate into my meso wallet. The drain skill I now have has saved me tons already. I'll switch back eventually I'd say, but having one of each thief now, I have to say that the Dual Blade has the most variety, and that interests me most. I understand liking the simplicity of a Night Lord, and after all, throwing stars are awesome! But, he's just not my thing. Shadower used to entertain me more, but I guess he was a bit slower than the DB. It's just a matter of play-style I suppose.

I did the opposite, from Dual Blade to Shadower
Enjoying it though, it's quite a lot slower than I'm used to, but very tanky which is nice.

TBH I love NL the most. Always have and will. It's very simple and effective. I don't need to put a bunch a skill all over my keyboard.
Thats what I love too. Its got a few core abilities that are fun to use with a mobile playstyle without it requiring me to completely remap my keyboard and having to take off shortcuts to thing like the buddy list etc

I have a NL as well, he was my first character, and the changes to them were pretty wonderful. I'm glad we can now break up the monotony of spamming skills with spamming other skills. It sounds dumb, but it really does make you feel new, you know?
