Nuh. It's the opposite for warriors. After bb, actually having dex screws us over.

I just knew someone was going to refer to The Dark Knight.

Go hybrid for 2nd job only and use a Polearm. (Spear/Polearm Booster/Mastery)
In 3rd job go pure Spear, if you have good control Crusher is awesome, Fury is nice for finishing or getting mobs to notice you and continue to move.
Polearms were never really balanced for DKs, hence why in BB they are fixed.

@Shadowsaviour: Basically the person above me shows a very standard and easy build that has been proven to work. I would have liked to have done that, but the time I couldn't grab and PAs so I started with spear crusher. I would say crusher is ONLY better in higher leveled maps, and not as useful in big mob maps because fury has more range than crusher side to side and up to down. It's true that it's a LOT easier to go dexless now, and doing so should be no problem! hf and gl with your new DK!

I just hit 120 today on my brand new Dark Knight (just made the job advancement after having to kill Griffy like 7 times for the darn quest item).

The people that say go Hybrid are absolutely correct. I used a polearm up to I started killing Skelies around 110-ish. At that point Spear crusher was the best attack. But until then, simply grab a nice Maple polearm and you're good to go.

Oh, and max dragon roar after polearm fury- Typhons can get you to 105+ish in the blink of an eye when you lure then all together with roar.

And finaly, don't forget that you absolutely do not need Dex. I simply found all the accuracy gear I needed from potential gear. +70 accuracy on my warrior pants/shirt- and they are simply rare, not even unique or epic or anything.

Good luck!
Well whats the difference skill wise? What are the cons? What should I level first? :o
Not much difference just it may mess with your control a bit when your a higher level since you won't be as used to crusher. If you have a good PA max PA fury if you have a good spear max Crusher.
trust me going hybrid WILL deliver better, faster training throughout the lower 70-100.... Even though I went spear first I still am a hybrid being hybrid benefits you the most because in mob training you can use PA and bossing/small mob you can use any spear.... only downside to going hybrid is losing FA which is USELESS in 3rd job. Please do go hybrid.... Also using a spear can be a pain at gallos... Spear crusher does not always hit the gallos right below you.... BTW even though I am hybrid after I got to 4th job I don't use PAs..... Hybrid/pure spear basically don't differ in 4th job except that hybrids have PA fury O.o
Doesn't really make a difference I went pure spear and it honestly doesn't seem different from my hybrid dk anyways, once your 75 you should be using a spear and crusher it's much more versatile in more maps than fury.

dexless definitely, just buy low level potential gear with accuracy and a dex robe and the usual until you can trade for str gear + attack and what not
hybrid because its the best bet. you can use a spear for bosses/less mobby places or a PA for more mobby places (gallos can use either, PA for himes, spear for skeles etc)

=] all u really need to know....

Then what would be a good base? And I am going completly spear, I don't like polearms. And about the bandwagoning guy I have no idea what you mean by that but I think drks are really fun. and skis are sexi I've wanted to make one for awhile now.

As a hybrid, BEFORE arans were even known, I mainly used polearms when training and very rarely used spears (i only used them when i bossed which was not too often). Anyway, I was one of the very very few Polearm DK's before arcglaives and Arans.

I would go polearm for now. They're cheaper.

After big bang, they'll combine the polearm arm skills and the spear skills into one. So make your end game weapon a spear, but keep everything else a pole arm.

Use a polearm till ~120. Unless you have an awesome spear no polearm can compare to already. But make your build hybrid.
