Luminous Redesign Idea

Hey, everyone!

I was thinking about Luminous the other day and noticed that, for the most part, everyone maxes the Light side of the class and rarely uses the Dark side. Most guides say to max the Light side attacks and the points that we skip are always the Dark side ones, because "the Light skills are better". It made me think about it and I noticed that really... we don't use the Dark skills all that often, do we? And then I thought "how could we fix that?" and after a little more thought, I had an idea...

Why not change the class in so that the Light-based attack skills remain as they are (great mobbing techniques) while the Dark-based skills are re-worked to be used for bossing tools? We all know that Luminous' biggest detriment is their boss killing capabilities, so why not change that by re-imagining the lesser-used Dark skills for 1v1 combat? The downside would be the Equilibrium form being a bit useless, but that again could be re-worked into something else... perhaps some kind of temporary super form that has the best of both worlds (or some kind of massive stat boost during that time).

With the new system, the element switching would be a single key press, swapping your mob-based Light mode and boss-based Dark mode. The attacks you had in Light mode would have Dark mode variants which would be on the same keys your Light skills were on. Furthermore, the "Equilibrium" mode could be a temporary form that either amped up your stats (higher damage output, lower damage dealt, avoid status effects and knockback) or maybe even it's own super form that had it's own attack keys that did crazy things for a short time.

At least by doing this, it would make those Dark mode skills feel a little more... useful.

Go ahead and share your ideas below. If you think it's an interesting idea or just wouldn't work, go ahead and say it. I'm interested to see what people say.

same. and yeah, it would make a lot of sense if one side was meant for mobbing and the other for bossing. or just revamp lumis overall bc i think a lot of us are spamming reflection and ender 24/7

Honestly, although this would cause the Luminous fanbase to riot, I agree. The light side skills would need to have some kind of nerf if the dark side was buffed to fight bosses. Also, the Equilibrium state would need to be overhauled, since it'd be somewhat outdated.

i think they would have to nerf reflection a bit or else they would be too good at both mobbing and bossing... but idk never played lumi

In the Kms version their bossing potential is must greater. But in GMS it's good for mobbing since don't you have to change from light to dark. I agree lumi's delay with dark skills are annoying.

Well I think KMS's version would be good for most bosses like Vellum and stuff, but if let say for competing with other classes as highest hits per second, the GMS's version would always be better.

But I will always want the KMS's version, because the Equilibrium is much longer I think ( correct me if I'm wrong ), but they are better bossers as in KMS version.

Honestly i like the class, i do agree no one really uses the dark side unless necessary but honestly i would just want my dark skills to be faster. The reason (wow i cant even remember the name of the skill atm) apocalypse? is hardly used is more so because its SO TERRIBLY SLOW well that and because its just not that great of a skill in comparison to reflection.

wouldnt mind dark being bossing and light being training but i think thatd need a whole revamp from what it is currently. I think it just needs to be reworked to be more useful rather than revamped completely.

I really like what you've presented here actually. My lumi was becoming too bland because it was just a mass reflection/ender spam.
Not exactly sure what's up there in KMS but you're on to something for sure!

If I were to add anything, I would like to see faster cast times for these dark mode 1v1 moves, since lumi's skills are extremely slow already lol.
