spears are a lot cheaper than pole arms since only drks use spears, while arans and drks both use pole arm.s

This thread has been made a few times before.

Polearm: Faster Speed(+), Lower base atk when compared to spears(-)
Spear: Slower Speed(-), Higher base atk when compared to polearms(+)

You should be using a polearm unless you have both DSI and the aswan atk speed +1, in which case spear would be better.
