Found a wallet

Now I'm conflicted about whether to return it whole, or to take the money and drop it into a public mailbox...

Few years ago, I dropped my wallet, went back 5 minutes later to see that it was gone. After a few days, a classmate of mine found my ID in the trash of the Men's bathroom.

If I were you I would take the cast and return everything else. write a note saying "bro i found it and as a reward for returning it I took the cash"
if there's an ID or other stuff like that you should definitely return it
I feel like for anyone it would be good to get it back, even the wallet itself, even if it means losing some money.
Anyways, you need the money maybe, but not THAT badly.
I need it to eat :I (not crap like 25c ramen or canned beans )

The person probably has their insurance cards, ID, credit cards, atm cards, and other things besides money. He/she is probably in a lot of grief by now. I would suggest returning the wallet with everything inside. You would make that person really happy...and besides, when you lost your wallet, how would you feel if someone just gave you everything back. I bet you would be insanely happy.

Now if you look at the person's ID and notice he/she is a serial killer or something, then take the money and buy nx

In the end, it'll be best to return it. Just wanted to hear your guys' thoughts on this.
Well obviously you know how it feels, why would you even consider taking anything if you felt like crap when it happened to you? Personally I wouldnt take anything

Stop being condescending to OP just because you think you are superior.
OP i think you should take the money because for all you might know it could either be Wanton's or the person who stole your wallet wallet's.

"YOU need the necessities" - but, you're using SOMEONE ELSES money to get it.
Now, first ask yourself the following questions (Some may be unnecessary, but may in a way affect you) :
-Do you know the person, do they seem nice?
-Are you poor, to the point you can't afford your needs ( Education, shelter, food, etc. not your wants- video games, NX cards etc.)
-Do you live up to your morals
-Do you care if the same thing that happened to you happened to some else.

Ideas: You could always, just take some cash in there and then return it- but the person may be suspicious. And well.. it's not a nice/great thing to do...
- I recommend just returning. (you will feel much better)
I returned someones Nintendo they dropped and didn't notice. And it was someone who I didn't like too... didn't even thank me.. now that I think of it, what a bch. Anyways that's not the point, I still felt better for being able to do that . I have everything I need in my life, including wants.. etc. It's lucky for me to be living where I am, I don't need to do things like stealing. So yeah.
-But you make the decision.

Even though Pokemon X/Y is coming out in 9 days, you should still return it with everything in it.

don't be a rude person, return the wallet with everything in it.

I would suggest you just mail the person the wallet back, using the money for the mail payment.

I lost my wallet once and a nice ass truck driver mailed me back EVERYTHING.

If it has like 20$ take it, if its more than a few 100$ return it, you might make a poor soul lose their house or car because you took their bill money.

I'd return it.

In sixth grade, a girl in my class accidentally dropped her wallet in the hallway. My friend and I found the wallet, took the money, then left it on the ground. I think we got like 40 dollars each. Later she found the wallet, and the school even made a PA announcement asking for whoever took the money to return it. Then I see her bawling her eyes out in class. Turns out the money we took was for her church or something. At this point, I thought it was too late to go back, so I didn't say anything.

It's been 7 years. I saw her last week, sweet girl. I still feel kinda bad stealing from her.

Return it to the person with the money inside. Maybe they really need that money, you never know. Also there's a chance that they will reward you, although unlikely. Idk man I would return it as is.
