I'm more of an art guy but my friends keep telling me that you can't really get a decent career with art. . . . So, if you guys took any of these electives, could you fill me in on whats good about them?

Technology will help get you in a good path for a future career. Technology is taking over the world and there is constant demand for more people in the business.
Band. Instrument is cool! Band is easy.

I'm really just wondering if i should take the course that i'd enjoy, or the course that could provide a good career.[/quote]
Continue with art if that's your passion, or you could take Tech Design which you work with programs and software to create things.
@siuttybears: Ah. What grade are you in? IMO it's never too late, but if you feel that way then I'd go in the art direction. Plus you've said you're more of an art person, so you'll probably enjoy it more.
EDIT: Oh 10th. Well in response to your above question, electives in high school don't influence your career as much as you'd think. You're free to take art even through college but that doesn't mean you have to major in it and have a career in it. I'd go with Art.

What grade are you in?
@illkoyou: I've though about that but since my friends have taken band in the previous years, i'd be stuck with lower grades
@Eruditez: Design, modeling and automation
write down the electives on a slips of paper and put them in a hat.
then randomly pick one.
If you want money, go jewelry.
Girls love jewelry.
If these are highschool electives it shouldn't really matter. Take what you enjoy.
Technology as in what?
Hit up that Band bro. 4 years of that will be great for college applications, plus it's always good to play an instrument. If not, you can do 4 years of art. That's also great for college applications as long as you're enthusiastic and determined to stick with it.
Either way, do whatever you really want to do.
