Thoughts on Hoverboards?

This may not be Back to the Futures version of hoverboards but...
Any of you guys have an electric scooter?
http://www.hov-board.com/
These hovboards are interesting. I was wondering if anyone in our community has one?
If so would you like to share about your experience with it?
How much did you spend on one?
Share some insight please!

I'd love one of these but since i'm super clumsy I would end up constantly scrapiing my hands and knees.

They're pretty fun. I live in an apartment so they come in handy when you leave something in your car downstairs. I've seen someone mount on feet locks so they can jump with their boards.

It's a segway without a handle. Looks silly to me. I feel like Gob from Arrested Development would ride one.

You know what it reminds me of? A skateboard version of a Segway.

So a push scooter is the Segway and skateboard is to Hooverboard.
Pretty interesting future.

The date of the "future" is Oct 21, 2015 for the movie. No hoverboards quite here yet.

@ohkojay: Nope you're right, seems like the average maximum speed is about 10 Miles per hour which is slower than both biking and skateboarding. From a commuter's standpoint, I feel that hoverboards may be safer than skateboards and bikes ;with the assumption the skateboards and bikes use the bike lanes near cars and hoverboards use sidewalks.

@snipebro11 ehh, most of the time when I've seen people use them they seemed significantly slower than a skateboard, bike, ect, so I feel like they're more for the "new and fun" factor than actual transportation. Unless i'm wrong and they can actually go fast.

@dulcet: According to http://www.hov-board.com/ , the cheapest ones are around $399.99 however on Chinese websites I've seen them for $250 to $300 but they take a long time shipping
@fancybiscuit: The art style for "Eureka Seven" looks nice! I'm not an anime person unfortunately

@ohkojay: They sure do look interesting! Do you think they are practical to for general use, ie self transportation? (Not that it could ever replace a car aha!)

I've seen a few people in my town with them, they looked interesting at first but now that I think about it they seem a little over-hyped.

@wall: Understandably so! They have been popping over social media due to celebrity exposure and whatnot. As long as the Hoverboard user respects pedestrians and follow laws, it should be fine! (NYC sure is crowded, especially for morning commute jeez!) Thanks for your insight!

@wall: I live in NYC and I have seen some people cruise down the city with it! It just seemed intriguing, being someone interested in the latest tech news and all!
