Why do people use hashtag
We've all seen the hashtag symbol # put to use before (again and again and again) in a relevant keyword or phrase in most popular social medias (Twerkter, Instagum, Tumblweed) though this is to help categorize searches making it easier to find related topics.
But this feature is not for all websites such as facebuck or basilmarket for that matter, so why do people persist on using the # when they clearly do NOT work?
Are you one of those hashtag lords and think its cool to # everything? Or is it that people are misusing it?
Let me here your opinions below.
inb4, swa- oh for god's sake, you already know it.

It's the overuse that I don't get...after a while it becomes blatantly obvious that they are trying to hard to be funny...hm. Well it seems that I've drawn my conclusions from everyone who posted.
well it actually does work on "facebuck", they implemented it a while ago
It does actually work on FB too though.
it's called parody

That's a small waffle...
Am I the only one that calls them Waffles?
Most Social Media is linked nowadays. For example, make a post on Facebook and it'll show up on Twitter or Tumblr. Maybe one service doesn't use # but the other might. As for sites on which it absolutely does nothing, people just feel like it for a comical element or to piss others off.
#swaggots
pretty sure it works in facebook.

Well...this is basil, what's not to expect..
If you really want a serious answer, ask somewhere else. Google it even (like honestly don't people put questions in the google search bar anymore?)
We're merely mocking the 24/7 hashtaggers on twitter/fb, if anything lelz
Its a little joke, dont take it to serious. Example of how i use hashtag.
lets just say i post a thread about selling my items on basil.
"Selling Perfect two handed sword level 140 weapon and thief tyrant gears. Offer me and leave a message below
#nolowballofferserousbuyeronnly"
#whatisfacebuck
I expected ignorance, but not this much of it...
Well...this is basil, what's not to expect..
Idiots. #<- stands for the number sign. You're using it wrong.
To me its a little joke

Hashtags are on Facebook though
#itsajokeyoumoron
it kinda became like a little joke that can be put after your statement to express your inner thoughts without making your sentence fragmented and irrelevant. #lol

Where does that link lead you?
They just think they're cool.
