About Mercedes and Demon Slayers
First of all, before I say anything else, this isn't a rant, I'm just pointing out an error in Nexon's reasoning.
Now, onto the logic.
Mercedes is meant to be an Elf right? Not human. Elves in MMOs and books such as the Inheritance cycle are known for their inhuman strength and speed, they are generally much faster and stronger than humans. Bringing an Elf into their game, Nexon should have known that this class would HAVE to be stronger and faster than their other [i]human[/i] counterparts in the game. A passive beginner skill for Mercedes that gave them Max Speed and Jump would have made sense. I'm pleased to say when Mercedes came out, they were much faster and stronger than other classes, so the whole Elf thing made sense, and was satisfied.
Now, maybe it wasn't the best idea to bring in a class that is stronger and faster than the rest of the classes already in the game, but, there's no easy fix to that. You can't just "balance" an Elf and a Human. One is stronger than the other, and that's that.
For now, Mercedes is still stronger and faster than the other classes (I don't know about Phantom), but I wrote that anyway, because I think Nexon will just go ahead and "balance" it out with everyone else.
On to Demon Slayer. He isn't human either right? He's a Demon himself, or something. So pretty much the same argument that went with Mercedes, could go with Demon Slayer, you can't balance him out with other humans, he's simply more powerful as a result of his race (What? That's racist!). However, I recently read a bunch of threads on basilmarket about how he IS being balanced out with all the other classes.
Maybe it would have been better if Demon Slayer and Mercedes had never been introduced to the game, or at least, not introduced as an Elf and a Demon, because when Nexon (Korea) did that, they pretty much put themself in the position of having two classes, which, for logical reasons, have to be stronger than the rest of the classes in the game, thus destroying that balance in the game which Nexon keeps trying to maintain (Orlly?).
tldr; Demon Slayers and Mercedes are both from RACES that are generally stronger than humans, balancing them out with other human classes makes no sense.

Most people dont realise that maplestory is NOT like normal MMOPRGs out there. Feel free to try and persuade me on this anyone

i dont get ur point about mercedes. there no point in makin it better than all characters jus cus its an elf. wth, do u think nexon should half the size of the mercedes cus its and elf or at christmas give preasents to other maplers D: (even tho last one might b gd idea i dont think the oints u mention dont really matter in a game like this sry ....
I totally agree with you dude. But you must know that Maplestory is a game, Nexon is a company and they'll make everything they need to get our money (No troll). You know it's a game, maybe Elves in book are stronger and faster and demons too, but you must know we are in a mmo of an excellent company that will nerf them if they need necesary to other players don't bother and more and more come to play.
Why would they "have to" be stronger that human characters when these races are fictional anyway? There are plenty of examples where different mediums portray different races differently (Twilight?), so it's not really the logical choice when there's no reason for them to forced them make them stronger because of that.

i don't understand why people think reasoning like this works. class balancing is about the state of the game as a whole, not the character's backstory or implications associated with it. Demon Slayers still have considerable advantages that the human classes don't, as do Mercedes (which are still killing in terms of DPS post-nerf).
Wat about those elves that make those Cookies? O_o
And DemonSlayers don't have to be Demons. If I throw a banana at a demon and he trips and falls and dies, then I would be considered a DemonSlayers
OT: nexon is trying for some variety, I'm applauding them
