Is Windows 8 overpriced?

Would you say that Microsoft is charging too much for Windows 8? Android updates are free, OSX Mountain Lion cost only $20 to upgrade to for all systems, but Microsoft is charging $70 a computer for the Windows 8 upgrade. Is this too much even though they obviously made an effort to make something new?

I'm fairly certain DreamSpark Premium members can officially download the latest Windows OS for free.

OS X Lion to OS X Mountain Lion is less of a change than Windows 7 to Windows 8.
Both Lion and Mountain lion are based upon OS X, which means, if nomenclature is to be trusted, the architecture of both operating systems are very similar*.

Windows 7 and Windows 8 look to be very different.
So yes, I think Microsoft is justified in charging more (maybe not $70, but more than $20).
