Friday Night, Time for a Maple Story.

I am willing to tell you this story and there is a reason why and I need help:

I started off maple in my early teens and I loved video games. I found out about maple from a friend and he told me maplestory had finally come to america from korea and it was in Beta(yes, I'm korean). I thought to myself that lame mushroom game? I had never seen it before but just heard ppl talking smack about it and wanted to bandwagon(lol). But I said, "whatever I have the time so why not try it out"(I WAS in middleschool after all). I made my first char: heizdachrist. I also made several other lame igns that had a bunch of x's and z's in them(I should have taken the 4 letter or some nice cool names like tiger arrggh, just had to be like every other immature teen out there). And my maple journey began. I was surprised at how different and how much better this was than RuneScape. RS classic as you know it now. (I still think its better than RS2 Haha.)

Scania was obviously my first world, and maplestory entered its official release. I thought this is so cool, but in my excitement I passed by Nemi, or whatever the doll like girl from ludi was called, next by the Ship in Lith Harbor. She was the girl that gave out the now legendary Mark of the Beta hats. My friend got his, (which he may still have) but at the time I simply thought as a kid "who cares, EVERYbody is getting it, its not even gonna be rare or anything plus it has no stats". By the time I wanted one for my self, they weren't being given out anymore(ggowned).

I adventured through maple like this having a warrior as my first char, I loved looting mesos in sleepywood and being able to withstand horny mushroom touch damage at level 15, I thought I was balling. This 'pro' archer guy just kept shooting these mushrooms and didn't pick up any of the mesos, so I was like, to hell with it, Im going to loot these! Muahaha, I thought i was rich. (That archer guy was probably only lvl 27 at the time rofl).

Ever since then I played a cleric, and finally I fell in love with the bowman. I made at least 7 of these characters as my main and deleted each one making a new one with the same name: HawkCross. I deleted them either because I got bored, quit maple(but we all know everyone comes back eventually), and to get better builds(I never got past level 70). I only met a few people along the way, as a guy with many rl friends I didn't feel the need to make friends online. Even after all my rl friends left maple, I remained because of the fun of the game itself. So on the way I met people among a few who are: ywitch1111, nodex84, alyboo, whooopoop, bsucla, eclipse111, and a few others.

At one point I thought I quit maple for good. I was done. But I could only hold back a year, and this was the longest I had quit, and finally got even more into the game. This time I chose to start off in Windia.

But I finally realized that what I needed was money to become pro(It really was better back in the day, but not because of the content but because of the innocence and community. We were all noobs and were in this just for the fun, not a competition for more numbers.). So I decided to become a merchant. It kind of happened slowly. I start off with overall dex scrolls. Then went up towards equips. I was a VERY slow mercher. Whenever I would get some profit, I would just spend it all on something I wanted from whim or for fun. And so I could never get much money. On top of that I met some scammers, which slowed my progress even more. Eventually I made my way to the top, and now I merch with one of the best merchanting guilds and I hold door spots. Trust me, if I can merch, ANYONE can merch with just enough practice.

Having experienced being scammed several times, I vowed I wouldn't take any risks nor give anyone money first ever again. But that was until I finally got a character past 3rd job and 4th job. I had fallen in love with the Aran. I just fell in love with the idea of these new "Legend" classes that would be coming out. On top of that this was a combo class . So I hurriedly made it and made it my main that I would never delete again since it got an exclusive medal "Combo King" and I was determined to become the best aran.

This Aran I have been training until now, and meanwhile been merchanting for it.

The day in maple had come when the visitors had arrived and this is where my story takes a turn. I had been merchanting and owling for VIP polearms. I couldn't find any. But after a week, finally one showed up in ch1 fm22. It was taking offers and up for max mesos. It was 125 attack clean. I really needed this polearm. So I merched even harder over the week and weekends.

I still have a bad habit of not being able to save money, but at least now I spent it all on merching equipment and items. So I went back to close to 200m mesos. FM business was slow, MTS had recently plunged for me making me lose alot of money there, I couldn't even afford a permit or mushies anymore.

I knew what I need. To buy nx low, and sell nx high to people in my guild or anyone that needed it. I had been buying from my guild that sold for 1:20, and so decided I would need to buy nx for much less than that to make profit.

Thinking I would get this vip polearm soon, one day.....

I was in Channel 2 fm 1 when azngangst3r2 entered the room saying: selling nx 1:10! Knowing it was a good deal I said I wanted some.

I was talking to her about making the deal and she asked what do you want? And I said I wanted MTS nexon credit. So I said since I didn't know her nor trust her I only wanted 1k first. But she said she didn't want to pay the tax. And so I went "D'oh oh yeah" to myself and so I said hmmm.

Fine Ill just buy 10k from her. She seemed nice and trustworthy. But I held back due to my bad experiences in the past. And so I tried to convince her to gift me the nx first since I have door spots in fm, my whole guild and other guilds can vouch for me being legit. I also mentioned that I have a reputation to maintain so I wouldn't scam even if i could.

Nothing would convince her, so for the first time in years, I did something I hadn't done for a long time. I took a risk: bought nx from someone I didn't know, who gave vouchers who were all offline except one. She seemed legit, nice, and decked out in nx have a lvl 8x Hermit, so i assumed it must be her main.

So I gave her money from three different chars since I didn't have 100m all on one guy. On my last char, I gave her 20m adding to the 50m and 30m from my other 2 chars. After she got my 20m, she said ok brb.

5 minutes passed. I was starting to panic. Why would she take so long? I put up a steel ore for 8879. That being nice on my part for not making her pay tax for the 10k nx. Finally she came back. I was so relieved, and she walked towards me f2ing and saying "ok thanks! Done!" I f2ed and said ok, well can you add me to bl, i want to do more business with you later on. And she agreed. We became buddies. I hurriedly went to the mts not feeling easy until i saw the nx in my account, and saw that nothing had changed and my steel ore was still there(as it is still there now the time of the scamming). And so I exited quickly and said "hey wait", but she was already long gone. Off her "scamming mule" and on her main i assumed, which would later turn out to be true.

Now i feel betrayed, frustrated and just can't seem to trust the maple community anymore. No matter how many times I try to. I just can't. And I think this was the final straw.

I know this may seem petty to alot of you, but these are hours I've put into merchanting and time is money. Its not just the fact that I've lost money, but the hurt behind this too. On top of that I had some drama in rl too, so I was in a bad mood to start off with. Remember I'm still learning the ropes of merchanting and am still a noob at heart. Don't think I'm uber rich.
