usa,not as pictured online?

So I'm soon to be Virginia Tech student and so far everything seem great. Walmart has no weird people as people say online. It is true that there are fat people but they aren't many. Most people are actually thin. Also so far about 99% is following the law so how is usa bad when it's well protected thanks to strict law? could it be Im just in the good part of the country?
Man you really do hop on every opportunity to create a feud, don't you? Here's what just happened in my opinion, since I just got back from classes since posting this morning:
1. I post a thought provoking video without any judgement attached to it, literally just a "hey look at this"
2. You come in, make a valid question at the legitimacy of the facts in the video.
3. I explain it was for exploration of thought, nothing more.
4. You come in again basically with "NO YOU'RE WRONG HERE'S WHY"
5. I give a light-hearted "alright that's enough"
6. Here you come in again basically telling me how negative I am for posting a video without any real opinion of my own attached to it

Seriously? I know Basilmarket has a history of hosting awful discussions but man I didn't know people were this desperate.
Apologies for the late reply, I was enjoying the California weather during my spring break.

Btw, I'm SO sorry that my deep patriotic connection to my country and need to defend it angers you so much because you have no cultural connection to your own country. Think about it, any person who loves their country will defend their country if something negative is posted about it. Why think any differently about an American?

I'm sure a French or English person would do the exact same.

@Elasmobranch: No it wasn't that interesting to watch. I have seen it before. We are third in median household income. We have the most millionaires and billionaires. Our standard of living is better imo. Then the fact that we have the most powerful military MMM! That one just makes me tingle when I say it.
Of course it's not the same as it seems online. If anybody legitimately judges it from the various stereotypes that people (often jokingly) talk about, then they're just extraordinarily ignorant. To actually be able to judge a place, I'd argue that you'd have to physically visit there to experience it for yourself, because anything that anybody says will be distorted in some way, and the Internet distorts it even more.

What country are you originally from btw?
Saudi Arabia

@simaini
This happens on 2007 by a mentally ill Korean, even since then the university made the security really tight that there are many people walking here and the bus is full even when it's midnight so it is safe

You are the truly ignorant people who demean a country without ever experiencing it for yourself. Come visit or live in California, Oregon, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Virginia, Vermont, Montana etc. You'd be surprised how geographically diverse this country is.

Not saying it's the best country in the world, but I sure wouldn't want to trade it for any other country that's for sure.
The only USA stereotype that I've confirmed in-person is the obesity. Particularly Michigan, because that's where I've visited the most often. On my last trip down there I don't think I saw a single person under 170lbs, including women.
I do have an overly patriotic USA-dwelling friend who thinks American Sniper is the next Citizen Kane, but he's the only one I've known to be like that

@tiesandbowties I'm not gonna harp on everything you said but I would like to point out a couple things wrong with some of those great things about America. For one it's true that we have the most jobs, the most minimum wage jobs that is, and since our minimum wage is so low it doesn't warrant the amount of them that exist because you can't possibly support yourself financially on your own and even just barley with a partner of the same wage. Our higher education system is also highly overrated as it is only useful if you don't come out of it without a massive debt which is only possible with high level scholarships and multiple financial aid programs some of which aren't that great to begin with. America not only also makes me angry because of its cultural ignorance it also still has this desire to massively fund our massive military to the point that we can't even fix most of our aforementioned infrastructure issues. The country is moving in a better direction with the end to the baby boomer generation, but it still has many problems that can't be ignored unless you want to equate yourself to some white conservative right wing republican with no respect for the world outside their own bubble.
@Elasmobranch: You could make virtually any country look bad if you exaggerate and point out all the negative aspects in a distorted way.
The United States isn't number one in just three categories. Most notably exempt was largest economy, most jobs, country where most people around the world wish to immigrate to and study in, and best higher-education system in the world (unanimous in world education rankings for undergraduate and graduate research/studies).
Keep on keeping on 'Murrica.
@Elasmobranch : I hope you realize that clip is from a TV drama and most of the statistics he says aren't factual but overstated hyperboles.
If you seriously think that life isn't how it appears on TV, I feel sorry for you.
The video was supposed to make you think critically on why America is supposedly the greatest.
