I had to deal with the same issue when I forgot both the email and the password to the account.

If you follow through "forgot information" thing you can send a direct email to Nexon. They'll ask basic security questions (your name on the account, birthday, characters / server you play on, recent nx history, etc) Once you finish clarifying it (also you have to send a selfie of you with your ID) they'll reset the email, and then you can follow through with a password reset.

It took me only 3 days to reset my account.

Then he should have set a secondary email that directs password changes to. I'm sure most email providers have an option/mandatory requirement to do so.
