Returning Player

I haven't played MapleStory in about two years if I recall correctly and recently was invited to play again with a friend in Windia. I was wondering if anyone had any advice for getting back into the game. I'm curious about include how to go about making my first character for one thing. Are Cygnus Knights still the best option? I remember they had a skill that buffed every other character you made afterwards as well as them generally being stronger than the rest of the characters despite the level cap making them require less funding and commitment; but of course now that they can apparently get to level 250 now this point mostly seems moot.
I'm also wondering where are the best places to train and how should I go about funding a serious character later on. Any other advice would be appreciated too.
Well i have my own type of guide for where to train if you are interested:
1-10: Do the Prequest, most of the time you will end up being lvl10 anyways
10-20: Do any extra quest if necessary, quest are some easy ways into lvling up quickly. If there isn't that many quest you find interesting, the go to Red Golems at the golem temple (30-40 xp?)
20-30: Golems? Probably some places in gold beach should be good... i think...
!LVL30: DO YOUR JOB ADVANCEMENT (UNLESS IF YOU ARE AN EVAN DO ALL YOUR JOB ADVANCEMENTS)!
30-40: Gold Beach, it should say that on your Maple Guide. Train at the green clams thingy idk what they are called (100-145xp)
40-50: Go to 6th path crossway (where Victoria Island split into the 6th paths not including sleepywoods) and take the interdimensional portal. You should end up in a place called Pantheon. Go on your world map and search up Gravi Stonegears or look for it on the map. (In my opinion this is a very slow process and there might be better spots to train at) (155xp)
50-60: You should get a quest on the light bulb which is on the left side of your screen. It should talk about a quest talking about Rein Strait. Finish the entire quest and if you didn't reach lvl60, then train on some of the monsters there. (200xp+?)
!LVL60: DO YOUR JOB ADVANCEMENT (UNLESS IF YOU ARE AN EVAN DO ALL YOUR JOB ADVANCEMENTS)!
60-70: Drakes at silent swamp in sleepywoods (305 xp?)
70-80: At Magatia (im not sure if that is the right place, but search it up on the world map) train on the desert sand rats and scorpions. (1000xp+)
80-90- Roids at Magatia (1000+xp)
!LVL30: DO YOUR JOB ADVANCEMENT (UNLESS IF YOU ARE AN EVAN DO ALL YOUR JOB ADVANCEMENTS)!
70-130: ROMEO AND JULIET PQ (go into the cracked mirror thingy portal in any local town, for example heneseys and click on the party quest thingy NOT THE ONE WHERE YOU CAN TRAVEL ACROSS WORLDS TO DO PARTY QUEST THE OTHER ONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE) (900-5000 xp depending on your party)
100-140: Evolution lab, link 3? i dont think this is recommended anymore? (1000+ xp depending on your lvl)
100-140: Monster Park Extreme (you get tickets from that lady at there, 3 times only per day) (10,000xp+ depending on your lvl and yes over ten thousand xp but you can go here anymore after lvl140)
140-160: Dimension Invasion Party Quest (not really a party quest). Search it up on your cracked mirror thingy again in local towns. If you can't solo it, bring some people to assist you. (3000xp+ depending on lvl)
140-160: Not that really recommended but temple of time should be open for you, just do the pre-quests and then you should have access to those guardians. (5000xp+)
160-250: SECOND DRILL HALL (This is very populated just saying, if you are gonna go to scania or windia. Cuz if in khaini its very populated, then it will be PACKED in those other worlds) Go to temple of time again, try to find your way into one of the doors that let you have access to the future where the black mage tricks the cygnus knights into a trap and everyone is evil blah blah blah. When you end up in Henesey's Ruin then look in the world map and scout for second drill hall on the bottom of the screen. (91,929 xp <---- totally didn't copy and paste)

160-250: There are better places to train at, but once you hit lvl200, its a slow run. Warrior's Hunting Ground is one example of a decent place to train... I think. Also Hall of Honor is another good place to train at.

Word of advice, some classes are recommended to chose first, like mercedes or luminous for the link skill. If you dont know link skill, its pretty much like a skill where you can transfer any passive or active buffs to other characters in the same world. Some link skills i can think of off the top of my head is:

1. Mercedes (%Exp Rate Boost for Training Level 1-250)
2. Zero (Ignore %Enemy Defense and Reduce %Damage Taken)
3. Kaiser (%Max HP)
4. Kanna (%Damage)
5. Zen / Jett (Stats + Weapon/Magic Attack)
6. Luminious (%Ignore Defense)
7. Demon Avenger (%Boss Damage)
8. Beast Tamer (%Boss Damage, Critical Rate, Max HP and Max MP)
9. Demon Slayer (%Boss Damage)
10. Phantom (%Critical Rate)
11. Hayato (Weapon/Magic Attack)
12. Cannoneer (All Stats)
13. Xenon (Additional STR, DEX, LUK Stats)
14. Angelic Buster (Temporary Skill Damage Boost)

i just copied and pasted this lazy me

Also link skills can increase in lvl's as the character that is giving the link skill lvl's up

Link Skill level 1: the character giving the link skill must be level 70-119
Link Skill level 2: the character giving the link skill must be level 120-209
Link Skill level 3: the character giving the link skill must be level 210+

thats all i can think of now Have fun trying out maple
This is a great help for those who haven't played for a long time. A few corrections though; Hall of Honor monsters aren't good for training anymore, since they turned it into another crap monster LKC. So the only places for training are First and Second Drill Hall (for lazy people who don't want to move).

Demon Avenger gives % total damage link skill just like Kanna. But I think Kanna's can't be lvl 3 while Avenger's can.
