Maplestory files too large after update

I play Maplestory off my 8GB flash drive (around 7ish to be exact because they round up), but after every single update, I'll have to delete and redownload Maple again because updating would turn it from 3GB to around 8GB, and the patcher would stop midway. After deleting and redownloading the game, it would be 3GB again, with all the necessary files for me to play the game.

I want to know if anyone else has these problems while patching, and what I can do to keep the game under 8GB

I assume that the patcher deletes the files after it has finished patching, but because mine was canceled halfway, it never got around to deleting the extra files

Sadly, I guess it means I need more than 8 GB while patching if I want to download it on my flash drive, or I'll have to delete the $$$ files while the game patches[/quote]

That's exactly the problem- when a patch crashes, the process doesn't bother to delete its "temporary files", which are the ones in the $$$ folders.
After a while, those can build up and eat a huge chunk of your hard drive (or USB, as you discovered).
It's always a good idea to check after a patch to be sure there are no $$$ folders inside the main Maplestory folder, just to be sure you're not wasting any space.

As for the patching process, it depends on how large a specific patch is, but yes.. the way Nexon does its installations means you need HUGE amounts of free disk (or USB) storage during the patching or installing process to hold all the temporary files that are created. If the process completes successfully those temporary files are automatically erased, but during the process you need a lot of free space or the patch or installation will fail.

And you CAN'T delete the $$$ temporary files during the patching process, because they're needed for the patch to complete. (They're the patch files themselves.)

Probably time for a bigger USB flash drive.

You have to delete the folders that have $$$ on it, they are kind of back ups that are made when you update maple, but is useless after it have been updated.

Are there any files that aren't needed to play Maple that I can delete?
