Basil Art Battle Sign-up Sheet

[header]The gist of all this[/header]
This is an artist tournament between Basilers, with each round being a different category, whether it be Maple Story related, scenery, food, etc (Please feel free to add more suggestions for categories!). You go in a battle between 4 Basilers, and 2 winners will be decided with a combination of Basiler votes and our amazing judges to go into the next round until there is only two. (Well, you know how tournaments work, blah blah blah )

- There will be 4 Basilers per round, with 2 going onto the next level.
- Submissions will be PMed to me after uploading it to an image hosting site such as [url=http://photobucket.com/]Photobucket[/url], [url=http://imageshack.us/]imageshack[/url] or [url=http://tinypic.com/]tinypic[/url].
- No tracing. References must be posted.
- If it happens to be Maple Story related, do not submit it to the screens until the round has finished.
- No asking for votes - This will lead to immediate disqualification.
- Each round will take a week. If you do not post your entry, then you will be automatically knocked out.

We're still sorting out prizes to be honest (And if you would like to donate anything to the winners, we'd appreciate it :x ), but the very generous @RKyais is kindly offering DeviantArt premium memberships!
1st prize: A 3 month premium membership for DA and a whole year of webhosting on lychii.net (Domain's not sorted yet, but will be once the tourny's over) AND a full coloured commission from the talented @twinklefish !
2nd prize: A 1 month premium membership for DA and a whole year of webhosting on lychii.net AND a commission from the talented @Boullion !
3rd and 4th: A whole year of webhosting on lychii.net AND a character sketch from the amazing @GenuineLaughter!
I will eventually doodle everyone who takes part as well. :x
[header]The judges[/header]
The amazingly wonderfully awesomely talented sexy judges include myself, @Boullion and @twinklefish. We will be judging the art and discuss who will be going onto the next round, discussing and rating different areas such as creativity, colours, composition, etc, depending on the category. Our opinion will only count for half of the vote though! The other half with depend on Basiler votes.

Ooof, so much discussion going on. Hopefully I won't miss anything.
@BassChan: To be honest, we've got enough drawings anyway, so I was hoping people would contribute in different ways such as err.... Money or NX. XD
@RKyais and @twinklefish: K, I've had a quick think about this. Basically, the first round is to get rid of half of the contenders, which would probably be (To put bluntly) the deadbeats. So basically the people who don't bother entering anything in or don't really put any effort in at all will hopefully be gone by the 2nd round. So we'd be down to 30 odd people already.
For judging, I will create a free forum somewhere where no one knows the address, and post each group of 4 contenders in one thread, where the judges discuss the submissions against each other. Ideally we would have a chat somewhere, but I dunno what the chances of all the judges being online at the same time are. D:
For polls, instead of cluttering things up, I'd create a free poll thing somewhere else for each group of 4, then post each poll in one thread. I'm a bit paranoid about people trying to rack up votes by linking it to friends/etc, or voting again and again by changing their IP. So maybe we can post the polls in the Fun section, then link to them in the main thread that'll be in the Art section? I'll ask a mod if they'd get pissed about this.
And.. it would be awesome if you'd like to be a judge as well. Also, could you both get onto the BasilIRC as soon as you see this? I'll try and be on most of the day.

Alternatively, (although it's probably a bit late to say this now) split the contestants into X amount of categories. Give each group an art category to draw/or same. Then the winners from each group (1st& runners up maybe) go through to another round. /shrugs
Oh well, contest starts today lol. I wonder what the first category wil be

HMMM perhaps we should do double eliminations during early rounds or something LOL.
it's also possible that for early rounds the people moving forward could be solely determined by judges. It's good that you're bringing things up! WHY DIDN'T YOU SIGN UP TO BE A JUDGE. SUAMA CAN WE MAKE HER BE A JUDGE PLEASE LOLLLL

After we get a final headcount I was thinking of splitting everyone up into groups and everyone has to do the same theme. Elimination is based on their performance relative to the people in the group? Gosh I'm so bad at organizing stuff, RYKAIS PLEASE SUGGEST SOME STUFF LOL ;_;

I second this. References can only be taken so far. A reference of a bird for its feathers or a hand for a specific pose seems alright, but copying down an entire landscape for instance should not be okay.

I have a question, but I'm not sure how to word it. When the art pieces getted voted by Basilers and the judges will you guys won't know who the pieces are drawn by? Or will you guys know who the pieces are drawn by?
